SINGLE STUDENT TRADITIONAL APARTMENT APPLICATION

Ferris prides itself on maintaining an academic atmosphere of our apartments. We are very pleased you requested living accommodations on our campus. By completing and returning the attached application, you will have taken the first step toward becoming a member of our University housing community.

APARTMENT ASSIGNMENTS

Qualified* applicants will be contacted via their ferris.edu e-mail. Assignments are done on a rolling basis as applications are received and pending apartment availability. The inability to reach an applicant with the contact information provided will result in being passed over for the next applicant.

*Applicant must be an accepted, matriculated student and must not have any outstanding debt to the University to receive an assignment. Those students who are not qualified will not be contacted by the Assignment Coordinator. The right of final assignment rests with the University.

TRADITIONAL APARTMENTS - EAST AND SOUTH CAMPUS

The University has a total of 88 apartments, which are located in H & K Buildings and South Campus. Single student status is defined as an unmarried student and/or married, divorced, separated student whose spouse and/or children do not live with them. To qualify for a single student apartment you must be at least 20 years of age.

CONTRACT

Based on apartment availability, a University apartment contract will be sent to you prior to the semester you indicated on your application. Tenants must remain a currently enrolled student to reside in the University Apartments.

$400 CONTRACT GUARENTEE

A contract guarantee of $400 will be required before moving into the apartment. The contract guarantee will be refunded to you provided all the terms of your contract have been fulfilled. Students transferring from the residence hall to an apartment may transfer their residence hall contract guarantee ($200) to the apartment; however they will need to pay an additional $200 to complete the $400 contract guarantee required for the university apartments. The contract guarantee will be forfeited if you refuse to accept an apartment after an assignment has been made.

Apartment rent is billed by the semester. Each semester is figured by the number of days in the semester multiplied by the per day rate. Non-payment of rent may result in immediate eviction. Rent includes all utilities, local telephone, cable television, data connectivity, laundry and a programming fee.

FURNISHINGS

All of our apartments are unfurnished. The apartments are carpeted and have a refrigerator and gas range. Residents must provide all of their own furnishings. Residents will need to provide their own linens, dishes, pots, pans, silverware, TV, VCR, lamps and any other personal items to make the apartment more like home.

Every building has its own laundry room with washers and dryer and is operated on a card system. A laundry card will be issued at check in.

DATA CONNECTIVITY, TELEPHONE AND CABLE DATA CONNECTIVITY, TELEPHONE AND CABLE SERVICE

These services are all included in the rent. Each apartment is wired for internet and cable TV service. A telephone is provided in each apartment. To dial long distance you will need to acquire an authorization code at the Timme Center for Student Services.

RENTERS INSURANCE

The University does not carry insurance or assume responsibility for the Residents' personal belongings in University Apartments. You are encouraged to carry renter's insurance with your insurance company on your personal belongings. If you are not currently dealing with an insurance company, there are several local firms to assist.

COMMUNITY CENTER

The Community Center plays a vital role in fostering community in and amongst the apartments, encouraging all residents to participate within the neighborhoods. Programming is provided at the Center to facilitate this social interaction and supplement the students' educational endeavors

The Community Center incorporates a large multipurpose room, two conference study rooms, computer lab, and a lobby reception desk. There is a picnic and play area located on the grounds behind the Center.

A bulletin board, for posting notices to other residents is available. Information concerning upcoming Community Center events can usually be found in the lobby.
