Safety and Security on Campus

Escorts
The FSU Department of Public Safety provides escorts for students choosing not to walk alone at night.

Quiet Hours/Courtesy Hours
All residence halls have quiet hours seven days a week, 8 p.m. to 10 a.m. In addition, every hall has 24 hour courtesy hours where noise should not be heard more than two doors down the hallway.

Night Security
All residence hall doors are locked between midnight and 7:30 a.m. on weekdays and from 2 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. on weekends. If any problems arise concerning security, you should notify the front desk immediately.

Door/Building Security
Have peace of mind where you live! Many of our residence halls have security I.D. card readers at each hall door. The readers allow residents entry to the building.

"Be Aware" -- Watchdog Residence Hall Security Program
This program is designed to increase a sense of community and responsibility for safety within the residence halls. Students can help deter crime by watching for and reporting suspicious or disruptive activities. The purpose is to make potential criminals think twice, knowing that students will be watching for them.
