Raymond Gant serves as special assistant to the President of Ferris State University. Mr. Gant's employment with Ferris began in September 1984 where he initially served as Management Intern in the Office of Planning and Development. In this position he assisted the Budget Office with tuition revenue projections, accompanied the Vice President For Governmental Relations when testifying before Michigan's House and Senate Appropriations Committees, and coordinated specific alumni activities through the Office of Alumni Affairs. He also spent several months working in Lansing with a variety of regulatory bureaus including the Public Service Commission, Liquor Control Commission, and the Department of Management and Budget to name a few.
In 1986, Gant founded the Office of Minority Student Affairs at Ferris State University. This office continues to serve as the Universities primary area that coordinates activities in support of personal and academic programs and activities offered to assist students with their transition to campus. Gant has administrative responsibility over the Office of Minority Student Affairs and duties as Assistant to the President.
Raymond is an alumnus of Ferris State University (BS '84 in Business Administration) and Central Michigan University (MA '98 in Counseling Education).
Gant has served on dozens of committees at Ferris and was a member of the FSU Alumni Board of Directors for several years. He was involved in the establishment of several scholarship programs on the campus of FSU and continues to work closely with the Office of Admissions. He has spoken at several areas across the country specifically on the topic of diversity and multiculturalism. His inspirational presentation style is actively sought out and is often in high demand. As special assistant to the President, Gant will advise the President on matters of diversity and serve as a liaison to several local and off-campus groups. He will coordinate the campus-wide diversity-plan working closely with faculty and staff to assist the President in guiding Ferris' diversity efforts into the new millennium. |
