Volunteer Center Awards

One student has been selected from the hundreds of students who report their community service projects to the Student Volunteer Center. This student is honored for the quantity of time donated and the variety of service projects reported. All students who report their hours to the Student Volunteer Center receive a recognition certificate.

Nearly all of the 200+ registered student organizations on campus participate in community service projects during the year. The RSOs honored were selected based on the number of total hours reported, the creativity and variety of their service projects, and the impact their projects had on the community.

Most Reported Hours in 2008-2009:

• Student Volunteers of the Year: Jalena Strayer, Matthew Weeks, Michael Kalat, Britny Raser, Russel Weatherspoon Jr
• Faculty/Staff Volunteer of the Year: TBA
• Volunteer RSOs of the Year: Ferris Idols, Democratic Progressive Students for Social Justice, Habitat for Humanity, Lambda Kappa Sigma, Zeta Tau Alpha

2008-2009 Michigan Campus Compact Awards :

• Heart & Soul Award: Elizabeth Kelly, Rebecca Oldani, Stevie Salow, Claire Gould, Allitta Hren, Richard Hall, Elizabeth Block, Abayomi Egbeleye
