The Office of Student Leadership & Activities sponsors
several Leadership Development and Recognition Programs throughout the
year. Each is unique and provides faculty, staff and students the opportunity
to be involved in leadership development.

What Opportunities Exist?
FLEX for Success Conference
For one day each year, nearly 500 student leaders and organization
advisors gather for a series of leadership skills and career professional workshops led by faculty,
staff and special guest presenters. Topics are tailored to the needs of
current leaders, but past topics included Conflict Resolution, Creative Problem
Solving, Leadership Styles, Legal Liabilities, Recruiting New Members, Running
Effective Meetings, Resumes, Networking, Professional Dress/Make Overs and more!
This year's conference took place on Feb 9th, 2005.
Leadership Lunches
Twice per semester, student leaders are invited to have lunch with other student leaders.
Each lunch will feature a speaker, which may be anyone from the university president to
successful alumni, returning to share their wisdom and experiences with current students.
Student Leaders will also have the opportunity to network and make connections with one another.
Student Development Records (SDR)
Student Leadership and Activities is in the process of starting the Student Development
Records (SDR). This record will be an official transcript
of Ferris State University. It will document all of your involvement with the campus
and/or community. It will be open to all students Fall semester 2005.
Torchbearer Society
The Ferris State University Torchbearer Society is designed to bring student leader alumni
together to enrich and enhance the quality of life for current student leaders at Ferris State
University. Torchbearer Society members support innovative programs that help students
pursue their educational goals while building their leadership skills through campus
involvement. Through networking activities and events, the Torchbearer Society will help
current student leaders learn from alumni who continue to exhibit leadership in their careers
and communities.
