FERRIS FEST 2008
Entertainment Unlimited (EU) is excited to announce the main artist for the 2008 Ferris Fest line-up! The planning for the annual Earth Day festival, known as Ferris Fest, began during the past fall semester. Since then, EU has conducted a survey, open to all Ferris State students, allowing them to vote on the artist and music genre they want to see at Ferris Fest 2008. Provided on the survey was a list of artists who were compiled based on their price range and availability, at the time of the survey. With a huge response of about 1200 students, the EU executive board immediately began using the survey results to start booking the top-ranked artists for Ferris Fest 2008.
As expected, many of the top choices had grown in popularity and increased their price or booked shows in the time of the survey. Artists ranked one through twenty as chosen by Ferris are unfortunately no longer available on the scheduled date or their price is now outside of our given budget.
In addition to the list of possible artists on the survey, there was a question asking Ferris to rank their favorite music genre. The EU executive board also took this question into consideration when deciding on the musical artists and according to the survey results, this year Ferris ranked rock as the number one genre. Unfortunately, again, due to the Coachella Music Festival in Austin, TX that is taking place the same weekend as Ferris Fest, every up-and-coming rock artist that EU requested was already booked for this show.
After facing many challenges in trying to secure a musical artist to headline the concert, Entertainment Unlimited is proud to announce Baby Bash as the 2008 Ferris Fest Main Act! Ferris students voted top 40/pop as their second favorite music genre and after extensive research, EU feels Baby Bash will give a great performance. His hits include of the ever-popular “Cyclone,” and also past songs like “Suga Suga” and “Baby, I’m Back.” His current single “What Is It,” is rising on the charts and getting more airplay.
We are also proud to announce Danielle Peck as one of the Ferris Fest 2008 opening acts. Country was Ferris State’s number three favorite musical genre and Danielle was also included on the list of artists on the original survey. Country fans will recognize her hits “Findin’ a Good Man” and “Bad for Me”.
EU is currently looking into two other opening acts, and will continue to use the survey results to choose music that will appeal to Ferris State University students. EU prides itself on making Ferris Fest the most diverse musical show on campus each year, with a day filled with different types of music for everyone. EU would like to thank everyone for participating in this year’s survey and is looking forward to seeing a great turnout at Ferris Fest on Saturday, April 26th. Stay tuned for more updates as they become available…
