AFE Charter and BylawsThis working Charter and Bylaws shall be in operation until the official Charter and Bylaws are approved during the Fall 2009 General Membership Meeting ARTICLE I. Name Section 1. The name of the the organization shall be The Alliance of Ferris Employees (AFE). ARTICLE III. Objectives Section 1. The objectives of the AFE shall be to engage in activities and deliberations consistent with the AFE Mission. ARTICLE II. Charter and Bylaws Section 1. The Charter and Bylaws of the Alliance of Ferris Employees shall be reviewed each year at the fall General Membership Meeting. Section 2. Changes to the Charter and Bylaws will be made according to Robert's Rules of Order and under the supervision of the AFE Officers. ARTICLE IV. AFE Officers Section 1. The AFE shall elect a president, vice president, secretary, membership and public relations officer and treasurer during its fall membership meeting. Voting will be conducted by a volunteer selected from among the Membership and shall be by secret ballot. Officers will be elected by simple majority. Ties shall be decided by a second vote and then by lottery in the event of a second tie. Section 2. The President shall act as a spokesperson for the organization, conduct meetings of the Membership, and execute policies and procedures in accordance with the AFE Charter and Bylaws. Section 3. The Vice President shall be responsible for gathering organizational research on behalf of the AFE, coordinating events (including general membership meetings), and substituting for the President when necessary. Section 4. The Secretary shall be responsible for maintaining the organization's records, taking and distributing minutes for meetings, and consulting with AFE personnel on official communications. Section 5. The Membership and Public Relations Officer shall coordinate communication efforts for the organization, including the AFE web site, press releases, and other appropriate communication forms and venues. Section 6. The Treasurer shall handle all financial transactions for the organization. She or he will work with the President to prepare a yearly budget and to make available a year-end report of the organization's financial activities. ARTICLE V. Membership & Membership Meetings Section 1. Any person who is a part or full time employee or who is a retired employee of Ferris State University and who identifies as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer or who identifies as an ally of LGBTQ people may join the Alliance of Ferris Employees. The organization shall not discriminate on the basis of race, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, social class, physical ability or attributes, religious or ethical values system, national origin, and political beliefs. Section 2. General membership meetings shall be held in the fall and spring semesters of each year. |
