Nov. 9: Bulldogs Place 13th Overall At Regional Championships

The Ferris State University women’s cross country team finished 13th overall at the 2002 NCAA-II Great Lakes Regional Championships held Saturday (Nov. 9) at Rolling Hills Golf Course in Hudsonville, Mich.

Freshman Jenny Irwin led FSU with a 49th place finish at 24:00.6 on the 6K course. Freshman Crystal Flutur was 62nd (24:21.7), freshman Kristen Balla placed 73rd (24:44.5) and sophomore Mary Miller finished 82nd (25:00.6). Freshman Leanna Wolf was 83rd (25:03.1), freshman Geneva Jones finished 85th (25:05.4) and sophomore Stefanie DeLong placed 100th (26:05.1) for FSU.

Oct. 26: Ferris Finishes Eighth At 2002 GLIAC Championships

The Ferris State University women’s cross country team finished eighth overall at the 2002 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) championships held on Saturday (Oct. 26) at Kensington Metropark in Milford, Mich.

Freshman Jenny Irwin placed 52nd overall to lead FSU in a time of 24:08.1. Freshman Crystal Flutur was 55th (24:09.8), freshman Kristen Balla placed 66th (24:35.0) and freshman Leanna Wolf finished 71st (24:46.5).

Sophomore Mary Miller added a 77th place finish (24:59.2), freshman Geneva Jones was 88th (25:28.5) and sophomore Stefanie Delong finished 96th (25:48.9). Junior Angela Herzog clocked 26:42.9 en route to a 107th place finish while freshman Katie Lange was 110th (26:49.1).

Oct. 11: Bulldog Women Place Seventh At Michigan Intercollegiate Championships

The Ferris State University women’s cross country team had four athletes finish among the top 50 competitors en route to a seventh place team finish at the Michigan Intercollegiate Championships held Friday (Oct. 11) at Kensington Metropark in Milford, Mich.

Freshman Jenny Irwin placed 32nd overall at 24:51.1 on the 6K course to lead FSU, which tallied 201 total points. Wayne State won the women’s 6K division with 47 points followed by Grand Valley State (53) and Eastern Michigan (63).

The field included 110 runners. Freshman Crystal Flutur was 37th (24:33.3), sophomore Mary Miller placed 40th (24:37.1) and freshman Kristen Balla finished 42nd (24:46.5). Sophomore Stefanie Delong added a 57th place finish (25:34.0) while freshman Katie Lange placed 82nd (27:02.3) overall.

FSU will return to action Saturday, Oct. 26, in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships at Kensington Metropark. The race is slated to begin at 10 a.m. (EDT).

Oct. 5: Bulldog Women Finish 16th Overall At Lakefront Invitational

The Ferris State University women’s cross country team had two runners finish among the top 100 competitors en route to a 16th place overall team finish at the 30th annual Sean Earl Loyola Lakefront Invitational held on Saturday (Oct. 5) at Montrose Beach in Chicago, Ill.

Freshman Jenny Irwin led the Bulldogs as she placed 98th overall in the 433-runner field in a time of 19:58. Freshman Kristen Balla was 99th (20:00), sophomore Stefanie Delong finished 109th (20:09) and sophomore Mary Miller placed 119th (20:16).

Freshman Geneva Jones was 170th overall at 21:00 while senior Angela Herzog finished 210th (21:36). Freshman Katie Lange added a 228th place finish (21:50) for FSU.

Ferris tallied 496 points in the 44-team race. The Bulldogs finished 10th overall in the non-NCAA Division I field with 311 points.

FSU will take part in the Michigan Intercollegiate Championships this Friday (Oct. 11) at 3:45 p.m. (EDT) at Kensington Metropark in Milford, Mich.

Sept. 28: Ferris Claims Team Title In Home Meet

The Ferris State University women's cross country team had four runners place among the top 10 finishers Friday (Sept. 27) en route to winning the team title in the 28th running of the Bulldog Invitational at FSU's Katke Golf Course in Big Rapids, Mich.

Freshman Crystal Flutur led the Bulldogs as she took third place in a time of 19:53.70 on the 5K course. Freshman Kristen Balla finished sixth (20:13.10), freshman Jenny Irwin was seventh (20:14.80) and sophomore Stefanie DeLong placed eighth (20:19.70). Freshman Geneva Jones was 17th overall (21:04.70) as FSU had five runners place among the top 17 in the 61-competitor field.

The Bulldogs tallied 40 points to edge Saginaw Valley State, which finished second with 41 points. Lansing Community College was third (72 points), Lake Superior State placed fourth (84) and Mott Community College finished fifth (153).

FSU will return to action this Saturday (Oct. 5) at the Loyola Lakefront Invitational in Chicago, Ill. The race is slated to begin at 11 a.m. (EDT).

Sept. 22: Six Bulldog Runners Place Among Top 30 At Pre-Great Lakes Region Meet

The Ferris State University women’s cross country team placed six runners among the top 30 finishers at the Pre-Great Lakes Region Invitational held last Friday (Sept. 20) at Grand Valley State in Allendale, Mich.

Freshman Leanna Wolf placed 19th overall in a time of 19:53.60 to lead the Bulldogs. No team scores were kept in the 5K race.

Freshman Crystal Flutur finished 22nd overall (20:07.99), freshman Jenny Irwin was 25th (20:28.43) and freshman Kristen Balla placed 27th (20:31.13) for FSU. Sophomore Stefanie DeLong was 28th overall (20:34.21) in the 78-competitor field while sophomore Mary Miller took 29th place (20:35.13).

Ferris State will host the annual Bulldog Invitational this Friday (Sept. 27) at 5:30 p.m. (EDT) on FSU’s Katke Golf Course in Big Rapids, Mich.

Sept. 6: Bulldog Women Win Northwood Invitational Title

The Ferris State University women’s cross country team placed five runners among the top six en route to a first-place team finish at the Northwood Invitational on Friday (Sept. 6) in Midland, Mich.

Freshman Jenny Irwin claimed the individual 5K championship as she finished first overall (19:37.92) in the 53-competitor field. Freshman Crystal Flutur took second place (19:44.52) while sophomore Mary Miller was third (19:49.19).

Sophomore Stefanie DeLong placed fifth overall (19:52.30), freshman Kristen Balla was sixth (19:54.31) and freshman Leanna Wolf finished 11th at 20:48.90. Freshman Katie Lange added a 12th place individual finish (20:51.67).

The Bulldogs will return to action Friday, Sept. 20, at the Pre-Great Lakes Region Invitational in Allendale, Mich. The race, which will be hosted by Grand Valley State, is slated to begin at 6 p.m. (EDT).

Sept. 2: FSU Women Open 2002 Campaign At Jeff Drenth Memorial

The Ferris State University women's cross country team had nine athletes compete in the non-scoring Central Michigan Jeff Drenth Memorial held last Friday (Aug. 31) at University Park in Mount Pleasant, Mich.

Freshman Jenny Irwin led the Bulldogs as she placed 11th overall (20:14) among 29 competitors in Ferris' first outing of the 2002 campaign. Two other FSU athletes also placed among the top 15 in the open 5K meet as freshman Kristen Balla was 13th (20:21) and freshman Crystal Flutur finished 14th (20:23).

Sophomore Mary Miller placed 17th overall (20:34), sophomore Stefanie DeLong was 18th (20:44) and freshman Leanna Wolf clocked 20:57 en route to a 20th place finish.

Ferris State will take part in the Northwood Invitational this Friday (Sept. 6) at 4 p.m. (EDT) in Midland, Mich.
