
Coaches' Awards were presented to junior defensive specialist Libby Martz and sophomore setter Lisa Chard. Martz led the Bulldogs with 56 service aces and finished third with 329 digs, and Chard earned First-Team All-GLIAC and GLIAC All-Tournament Team accolades after averaging a team-best 10.29 assists per game (1,296 total).
Junior setter Jill Behrns received the team's inaugural Heart Award while freshman middle hitter Angie Desmarais was honored with the Bulldog Award.
Four players on the squad received academic awards. Chard accepted the President's Award after compiling the highest grade point average on the team, and a Dean's Award for a GPA of 3.25 or higher. Additional Dean's Awards were presented to junior outside hitter Morgan Buckner, sophomore defensive specialist Amanda Kane and sophomore middle hitter Erin Minnis. Team co-captains Martz and VanderMolen received Captain's Awards for outstanding leadership.
Under the direction of fourth-year head coach Tia Brandel, Ferris State completed the 1999 season with a 26-8 overall record and made its first appearance in the NCAA Division II Playoffs since 1992. The Bulldogs, who finished 14-5 in GLIAC regular-season action, qualified for the league tournament and advanced to the championship match for the second straight season.
