TEAM NOTES:
The 2002 campaign marks the 30th anniversary of the Ferris State women’s volleyball program.

Senior Alaina Olds was an American Volleyball Coaches Association All-Great Lakes Region selection and a first-team Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) pick during the 2001 campaign. The 5-11 Olds currently has 719 career kills and is 281 kills shy of becoming the 12th player in school history to record 1,000 career kills.

Olds led Ferris State in kills (405) and total blocks (148) last season while attaining second-team 2001 Daktronics All-Great Lakes Region honors. She earned GLIAC North Division Player of the Week laurels twice (Oct. 6 and Oct. 22) and was named to the 2001 GLIAC All-Tournament Team. Olds registered two triple-double (kills, digs and blocks) performances as a junior.

FSU finished the 2001 campaign with a 21-11 overall mark, which represented the 15th 20-win season in the 29-year history of the Ferris State volleyball program. The Bulldogs earned GLIAC Tournament runner-up honors for the third time in the last four seasons and registered a second-place 12-6 GLIAC North Division finish.

Four of Ferris’ 20-win campaigns have came under head coach Tia Brandel-Wilhelm. The Bulldogs are 93-38 (.710) over the past four years and reached the NCAA Division II Great Lakes Regional Tournament in 1999.

Senior Kate Pickvet presently has 772 career kills and needs 228 more to register her 1,000th career kill.

The Bulldogs have five seniors in Stephanie Speed, Angie Desmarais, Erin Rind, Alaina Olds and Kate Pickvet. Eight players with starting experience return this season.
