BULLDOG DUO NAMED TO REGION SQUAD
Erin Minnis, Alaina Olds Garner Daktronics All-Great Lakes Region Recognition

Senior Erin Minnis and junior Alaina Olds, both members of the 2001 Ferris State University women's volleyball team, have earned 2001 Daktronics All-Great Lakes Region recognition.
A 6-0 middle hitter, Minnis was listed among five first-team selections in voting conducted by regional sports information directors. Olds, a 5-11 middle hitter, was one of five second-team picks. By earning first-team all-region honors, Minnis will advance to the national ballot and be eligible for 2001 Daktronics All-America consideration.
Both Minnis and Olds were earlier (Nov. 20) named to the 12-member 2001 American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division II First-Team All-Great Lakes Region squad after leading Ferris State to a 21-11 mark this past season and a runner-up 2001 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Tournament finish.
A 2000 AVCA All-Great Lakes Region selection, Minnis tallied 372 kills, 273 digs and 138 total blocks during the 2001 campaign. She became the 11th player in school history to eclipse the 1,000 career kills mark versus Michigan Tech University (Oct. 19) and
finished her career with 1,084 kills.
Olds led FSU in kills (405) and total blocks (148) this past season. She earned GLIAC North Division Player of the Week honors twice (Oct. 6 and Oct. 22) and registered two triple-double (kills, digs and blocks) performances this year.
Besides earning all-region accolades, both Minnis and Olds were also first-team 2001 All-GLIAC honorees and were named to the 2001 GLIAC All-Tournament Team.
Ferris State finished the 2001 campaign with a 21-11 overall mark. The Bulldogs posted their fourth-straight 20-win season and reached the GLIAC Tournament Championship match for the third time in the past four years.
