FSU VOLLEYBALL ROLLS IN FINAL FERRIS STATE INVITATIONAL MATCH
The Ferris State women's volleyball team wasted little time getting back into the win column as the Bulldogs dominated Urbana (Ohio) in three sets (25-13, 25-9, 25-19) Saturday (Aug. 30) afternoon in its final match of the 2008 Ferris State Invitational in Big Rapids, Mich.
Ferris State, which improved to 4-1 overall this season, hit an impressive .338 for the match with 39 kills in 77 attack attempts. The Bulldogs held a tremendous 39-17 kills advantage and limited the Blue Knights to a -.101 hitting percentage.
Junior outside hitter Katie Edwards (Cedar Springs) hammered a match-high 11 kills on .600 hitting while sophomore middle hitter Arielle Goodson (Grand Rapids/Central) supplied nine kills on .538 hitting. Senior outside hitter-setter Andrea Rich (New Baltimore/Anchor Bay) and redshirt freshman libero Lisa Tobiczyk (Marysville) added six digs each for the Bulldogs.
Ferris State was productive at net as Goodson registered four block assists while sophomore middle hitter Danielle Hamilton (Galesburg/Galesburg-Augusta) and freshman outside hitter Karen Thompson (Holt) added three block assists apiece.
Ferris State started out the match with productive hitting as the Bulldogs hit .429 in set one followed by a .579 hitting percentage in the second set to finish the tourney with a 3-1 mark.
Ferris State was represented on the 12-member all-tournament team by Katie Edwards, Sarah Lark, and Andrea Rich.
