FERRIS STATE FALLS TO NO. 8 UMD AT FERRIS INVITE

The match of the Bulldogs went to visiting Minnesota Duluth as the nation's eighth-ranked team handed Ferris State a 25-17-23-25, 25-18, 25-14 non-league loss this Saturday (Aug. 30) at the Ferris State Invitational, which was held at FSU's Ewigleben Sports Arena in Big Rapids, Mich.

The loss drops Ferris State to 3-1 overall this season while Minnesota Duluth improves to 4-0 on the 2008 campaign.

Ferris State, which hit .160 as a team to UMD's .359 attack percentage, was paced offensively by junior outside hitter and senior outside hitter-setter Andrea Rich's (New Baltimore/Anchor Bay) 11 kills apiece. Rich would conclude the four-set match with a .417 hitting percentage to go with 25 assists and a team-high tying 10 digs.

Redshirt freshman libero Lisa Tobiczyk (Marysville) compiled 10 digs and freshman outside hitter Ashley Huntey (Stanwood/Morley-Stanwood) registered eight digs as Ferris totaled 42 to UMD's 53-match total.

Minnesota Duluth would tally a 55-46 kills advantage.
