WIN STREAK REACHES FOUR AS BULLDOGS SWEEP PAST FINDLAY

The Ferris State women's volleyball team continued on the winning trek this Saturday (Oct. 4) as the Bulldogs blitzed Findlay by a 3-0 margin (25-21, 25-21, 25-22) in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) match at FSU's Ewigleben Sports Arena in Big Rapids, Mich.

The Bulldogs (11-7; 5-4 GLIAC) won for the fourth consecutive time to date as the hosts registered a .141 hitting percentage while holding the Oilers (7-12; 1-8 GLIAC) to a .019 attack percentage.

Sophomore middle hitter Arielle Goodson (Grand Rapids/Central), junior outside hitter Katie Edwards (Cedar Springs), and junior middle hitter Kristy Gilchrist (Macomb/Anchor Bay) combined for 24 of the FSU's 35 kills to pace the offensive assault. Goodson's nine kills represented a match high while Edwards notched eight kills and Gilchrist hammered seven on .353 hitting.

A pair of senior setters, Andrea Rich (New Baltimore/Anchor Bay) and Candice Marut (Pinconning) combined to account for 29 of the team's 32 assists in the match. Rich dished out 16 helpers and Marut a match 13 total.

On the defensive side, sophomore defensive specialist Dana Ruttle (Reed City) dug a match-high tying 13 UF attacks and redshirt freshman libero Lisa Tobiczyk (Marysville) made 11 digs. The Bulldogs, who had 7.0 total team blocks, were led by Goodson's five blocks (four block assists). Rich supported Ferris' blocking production with one block solo to go with three block assists.

The match featured 22 tie scores and 11 lead changes. With the win over Findlay, the Bulldogs improved to 5-0 all-time at home versus the Oilers.
