FERRIS MEN'S & WOMEN'S TRACK & FIELD/CROSS COUNTRY AWARD WINNERS RECOGNIZED FOR 2006-07 SEASON
Twenty-One Different Student-Athletes Earn 2006-07 Team Award Honors

The Ferris State University men's and women's track and field/cross country program has recognized 21 different student-athletes as team award honorees for the 2006-07 athletics season. The announcement was made today (June 8) by 11th-year head coach Jeff Kavalunas.
Included among the 21 team award honorees were 11 male student-athletes along with 10 female recipients. The lone individual to earn two team awards was junior Dia Price (Mt. Morris/Beecher) of the Bulldog women's track and field squad, who received both the team's Bulldog Award in addition to the squad's Outstanding Performer in the jumps area.
The track and field program presented seven awards to both male and female recipients. The awards included the Bulldog Award, Rookie of the Year, Most Improved Athlete and four awards for outstanding performers in the following areas: sprints/hurdles, jumps, throws and middle distance/distance events.
Additionally, four male and four female members of the Bulldog cross country teams were recognized for their performance during the fall 2006 season.
The Ferris State women's outdoor track and field team placed fifth while the men's squad was ninth in the 2007 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Outdoor Championships (May 3-4), which were held at Northwood University in Midland, Mich. The women's squad finished fifth and the men's team was eighth overall in the GLIAC Indoor Championships (Feb. 23-24) in University Center, Mich.
In cross country, the FSU women's and men's teams finished sixth and eighth, respectively, at the 2006 GLIAC Championships (Oct. 21), which were hosted by the University of Findlay in Findlay, Ohio.
