Northern Michigan Beats Michigan Tech In Regional Action

The Northern Michigan University women's tennis team defeated Michigan Tech for the fourth time this season to advance in the 2002 NCAA Division II Great Lakes Region Tournament on Friday (May 3) afternoon at Ferris State University's Racquet and Fitness Center in Big Rapids, Mich.

The Wildcats improved to 19-3 overall with the 5-2 win. Northern Michigan will face tournament host Ferris State in Saturday (May 4) morning's 9 a.m. (EDT) tournament final. The Bulldogs beat rival Grand Valley State by a score of 5-0 in Friday morning's first contest.

The winner of Saturday morning's championship match will advance to the NCAA Division II National Tournament May 9-12 in Kansas City, Mo. Michigan Tech concludes the 2002 campaign with an 18-9 overall mark.
