Wayne State Defeats Missouri-St. Louis To Reach Final

The Wayne State University men's tennis team advanced to the second round of the 2002 NCAA Division II Great Lakes Region Tournament with a 5-2 win over Missouri-St. Louis on Friday (May 3) afternoon at Ferris State University's Racquet and Fitness Center in Big Rapids, Mich.

The Warriors improved to 18-8 overall by sweeping the doubles round and capturing two of four completed singles matches. Wayne State will face tournament host Ferris State in Saturday (May 4) morning's 9 a.m. (EDT) tournament final. The Bulldogs dealt West Virginia Wesleyan a 5-0 loss in the first round.

The winner of Saturday morning's championship match will advance to the NCAA Division II National Tournament May 9-12 in Kansas City, Mo. Missouri-St. Louis wrapped up the 2002 campaign with a 17-5 overall record.
