Ferris State Men Advance With Win Over West Virginia Wesleyan

The Ferris State University men's tennis team opened the 2002 NCAA Division II Great Lakes Region First and Second Round Tournament with a 5-0 win over West Virginia Wesleyan on Friday (May 3) morning at the FSU Racquet and Fitness Center in Big Rapids, Mich.

The Bulldogs, currently 13-5 overall, advanced to Saturday (May 4) morning's tournament final by sweeping the doubles round and capturing both completed singles matches. FSU will face the winner of this afternoon's 2 p.m. (EDT) contest between Wayne State and Missouri-St. Louis in tomorrow's 9 a.m. (EDT) tournament final.

The winner of Saturday morning's championship match will advance to the NCAA Division II National Tournament May 9-12 in Kansas City, Mo. West Virginia Wesleyan concluded the 2002 campaign with a 8-6 overall mark.
