Grand Valley State Advances To Great Lakes Regional Final

Grand Valley State posted a 5-1 opening-round win over Southern Indiana Thursday (May 5) to advance to the title match in the 2005 NCAA Division II Great Lakes Region First and Second Round Women's Tennis Tournament held at Ferris State University's Racquet and Fitness Center in Big Rapids, Mich.

The Lakers swept the doubles round and won two of the three completed singles matches to defeat the Screaming Eagles. GVSU improved to 22-7 overall with the win while Southern Indiana concluded the season with a 14-6 mark.

Grand Valley State will face the winner of Thursday's second match between tournament host Ferris State and Wayne State on Friday (May 6) at 10 a.m. (EDT).

Friday's regional champion will earn a berth into the 16-team single elimination national championship field slated for May 11-14 at Sanlando Park in Altamonte Springs, Fla.
