March 12: FSU Wraps Up Annual Spring Trip With Shutout Win

The Ferris State University women's tennis squad wrapped up its annual spring break trip with a 9-0 shutout win over Pfeiffer (N.C.) on Thursday (March 12) at Misenheimer, N.C.

The Bulldogs improved to 11-10 overall with the triumph while Pfeiffer fell to 4-5 overall this season with the setback.

FSU swept the doubles round and then posted straight-set wins in all six singles flights.

The match was FSU's final scheduled regular-season encounter of the 2008-09 season.

March 11: Nationally-Ranked Patriots Roll Past FSU

The Ferris State University men's and women's tennis squads faced tough competition on Wednesday (March 11) as both Bulldog teams fell to nationally-ranked Francis Marion (S.C.) by identical 9-0 scores in Florence, S.C.

The Bulldog women trailed 3-0 after the doubles round and lost five of the six singles flights in straight-sets to the ninth-ranked Patriots.

Meanwhile, the FSU men's team also dropped five singles flights in straight-sets along with one by retirement against the Patriots' 11th-ranked men's squad. The closest doubles score in the men's match was 8-4 at both the second and third spots in the lineup.

Ferris' women's squad, which is ranked ninth in the current Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Midwest Regional Rankings, dropped to 10-10 overall this season with the setback while FMU improved to 11-1 on the year.

The Bulldog men also dropped to .500 on the year with a 4-4 overall mark to date. Francis Marion is presently 10-1 overall this campaign following Wednesday's victory.

Ferris State next will face Pfeiffer (N.C.) on Thursday (March 12) in both men's and women's action with match time set for 1 p.m. (EDT) in Misenheimer, N.C.

The match will wrap up the women's spring trip action while the Bulldog men will also visit DePauw (Ind.) on Saturday (March 14) for a 4 p.m. (EDT) encounter in Greencastle, Ind., before heading back to Big Rapids.

March 10: FSU Suffers Road Setback To Ranked Bearcats

The Ferris State University men's and women's tennis teams both dropped a pair of matches at nationally-ranked Lander (S.C.) on Tuesday (March 10) in Greenwood, S.C.

The Bulldog men's tennis squad jumped out to a 2-1 advantage after the doubles round, but suffered a 6-3 non-league setback to 16th-ranked Lander at the Joe Cabri Courts.

Meanwhile, the FSU women's squad also dropped a 6-3 decision to the Bearcats in afternoon play.

The Ferris men's tennis team fell to 4-3 overall with its second consecutive loss on its annual spring trip. Lander battled back from a 2-1 deficit to claim five of the six singles matches en route to the win.

In the women's match, the 40th-ranked Bearcats took two of the three doubles positions and captured wins in four of the six singles flights. Ferris fell to 10-9 overall in women's play with the loss.

Lander improved to 5-3 overall in men's action and 7-1 on the year in women's competition with the sweep of the Bulldogs.

Both Ferris State teams previously opened their annual spring trips by falling at NCAA Division I Coastal Carolina (S.C.) by identical 7-0 scores on Monday (March 9).

The Ferris squads will continue their trip by visiting Francis Marion (S.C.) on Wednesday (March 11) for dual matches starting at 2:30 p.m. (EDT) in Florence, S.C.

March 9: Bulldog Women Drop Opening Match Of Spring Trip

The Ferris State University women's tennis team had its four-match winning streak halted as the Bulldogs suffered a 7-0 loss at Coastal Carolina (S.C.) on Monday (March 9) evening in Conway, S.C.

FSU lost the opening match of its annual spring trip to the NCAA Division I Chanticleers, who improved to 7-1 overall this year with the victory.

The Bulldogs dropped to 10-8 overall this campaign with the setback at the Billy Nichols Tennis Center.

Coastal Carolina took all six singles flights in straight-sets and the closest doubles score was by an 8-3 count.

The doubles round counted as a single point in the team score per NCAA Division I regulations.

Ferris continues action on its trip by visiting Lander (S.C.) on Tuesday (March 10) for a 2 p.m. (EDT) dual match.

March 5: Ferris Posts Fourth-Straight Victory

The Ferris State University women's tennis team recorded its fourth-straight victory of the year as the Bulldogs rolled to a 6-3 non-league home win over Calvin on Thursday (March 5) at the FSU Racquet and Fitness Center in Big Rapids, Mich.

The Bulldogs took two of the three doubles flights and then claimed four of the six singles spots to notch the win over the Knights.

FSU improved to 10-7 overall this season with the win.

The Bulldogs will open a four-match spring trip to the South by visiting Coastal Carolina (S.C.) on Monday, March 9, with match time set for 4 p.m. (EST).

March 3: Ferris' Winning Streak Continues With Non-League Decision

The Ferris State women's tennis team extended its current winning streak to three consecutive as the Bulldogs would claim an 8-1 non-conference home decision over Hope this Tuesday (March 3) afternoon inside the FSU Raquet and Fitness Center at Big Rapids, Mich.

For Ferris State, the victory improved the Bulldogs' record to 9-7 overall for the 2008-09 season and represented the team's second home match this spring. FSU bested Albion, 8-1, in its initial 2009 home non-league tilt on Feb. 20.

FSU, under second-year head coach Alex Palladino, came into the non-league match ranked eighth in the latest Campbell's/Intercollegiate Tennis Association Division II Midwest Regional Rankings.

In singles action, the Bulldogs swept all six flights with sophomore Amy Ingle, freshman Melissa Flowers, senior Jessie Conklin, and freshman Mary Coleman all prevailing in straight sets.

The Bulldogs' number one doubles team of Amy Ingle and freshman Natalie Diorio notched an 8-2 decision over their Flying Dutch opponents while sophomore Tiffany Rheynard and Melissa Flowers duplicated the score at number two doubles. Hope's lone point came as a result of winning the three doubles by an 8-5 margin.

The Bulldogs return to the courts this Thursday (March 5) versus Calvin at the FSU Raquet and Fitness Center in Big Rapids. The non-conference encounter which marks FSU's final regular-season home match is scheduled to get underway at 2 p.m. (EST).

Feb. 20: Ferris Records Non-League Road Win

The Ferris State University women's tennis team rolled to an 8-1 non-conference home triumph over Albion on Friday (Feb. 20) afternoon inside the FSU Racquet and Fitness Center at Big Rapids, Mich.

The Bulldogs improved to 8-7 overall this season by winning their first home match of the spring semester. The Bulldogs took all six singles flights and claimed the bottom five spots in straight sets after sophomore Amy Ingle picked up a three-set victory at the number one position.

In doubles play, the Britons earned their lone win of the day at the first flight, but Ferris captured the second and third spots in the lineup to take a 2-1 edge into the singles round.

Albion fell to 1-1 overall this season under Scott Frew, who coached both men's and women's tennis at FSU from 1986-91.

Ferris, which is currently guided by second-year head coach Alex Palladino, continues its three-match homestand by next hosting Hope College on Tuesday, March 3, starting at 2 p.m. (EST) at the FSU Racquet and Fitness Center. Feb. 14: Ferris Records Non-League Road Win

The Ferris State University women's tennis team picked up its first victory of the spring season by recording a 6-3 non-league win over Indianapolis on Saturday (Feb. 14) at the UIndy Tennis Center in Indianapolis, Ind.

The Bulldogs evened their record at 7-7 overall this season with the win in the Valentine's Day Clash played on the Greyhounds' home court.

Indianapolis dropped to 2-2 overall with the loss to the Bulldogs.

Ferris next opens a three-match homestand by taking on Albion next Friday, Feb. 20, with the non-league dual set to begin at 3 p.m. (EST) inside the FSU Racquet and Fitness Center at Big Rapids, Mich.

Feb. 13: FSU Falls In Neutral Site Spring Encounter

The Ferris State University women's tennis team officially opened the spring portion of its 2008-09 season by suffering a 6-3 non-league neutral site setback to Bellarmine (Ky.) on Friday (Feb. 13) at Indianapolis, Ind.

The Bulldogs fell to 6-7 overall this season with the loss at the University of Indianapolis Tennis Center. Meanwhile, the Knights improved to 5-1 overall this year with the victory.

Bellarmine grabbed a 2-1 lead after the doubles portion of the match with wins at the top two tandem flights. Then, in singles play, the Knights swept the top four spots in the lineup to register the win.

Ferris State will square off against Indianapolis on Saturday (Feb. 14) with match time set for 9:30 a.m. (EST) at the UIndy Tennis Center.

Oct. 26: FSU Concludes Action In 2008 GLIAC Women's Tennis Tourney

The Ferris State University women's tennis team suffered a 5-3 loss to Michigan Tech in Sunday's (Oct. 26) fifth-place match at the 2008 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Tournament held at the Midland Community Tennis Center in Midland, Mich.

The fifth-seeded Bulldogs dropped two of the three doubles matches to the sixth-seeded Huskies. MTU then captured three of the first five completed singles flights to seal the victory. The three Michigan Tech singles triumphs came at the top three spots in the lineup.

Ferris had opened league tournament action Saturday (Oct. 25) by suffering a 5-2 setback to fourth-seeded Wayne State before bouncing back to top number eight seed Lake Superior State by a 5-4 count later in the evening.

The Bulldogs wrapped up the fall season with a 6-6 overall record. FSU is tentatively slated to open the spring season by taking on Bellarmine (Ky.) on Friday, Feb. 13, in a 2:30 p.m. (EST) non-league tilt at Indianapolis, Ind.

Oct. 18: Ferris Falls Short In League Home Match Versus Ashland

The Ferris State University women's tennis team battle back, but it wasn't enough as the Bulldogs suffered a 6-3 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) loss to visiting Ashland Saturday (Oct. 18) morning at the FSU Racquet and Fitness Center in Big Rapids, Mich.

The Eagles took all three doubles flights handily before Ferris came back to split the six singles flights. However, Ashland picked up wins at the two, three and four spots in the singles lineup to register the victory.

AU improved to 9-3 overall and 7-2 in the GLIAC while Ferris concluded league regular-season play with a 5-4 overall and conference record.

The Bulldogs will take part in the 2008 GLIAC Tournament slated to be held next Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 25-25, in Midland, Mich.

Oct. 17: Ferris Claims Shutout Victory Over Dragons In GLIAC Play

The Ferris State University women's tennis team recorded its second consecutive victory as the Bulldogs posted a 9-0 shutout win over the Tiffin Dragons in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) play Friday (Oct. 17) at the FSU Racquet and Fitness Center in Big Rapids, Mich.

The Bulldogs improved to 5-3 overall and in GLIAC play with the triumph. Meanwhile, the Dragons dropped to 2-10 overall and remain winless (0-8) in conference competition.

Ferris State won all six singles flights in straight-sets and the closest doubles score was 8-6 at the number two spot in the lineup as the Bulldogs cruised to a convincing victory. Three of the six singles positions were won by idential 6-1, 6-1 scores and the closest the Dragons could come was at the second flight where FSU sophomore Tiffany Rheynard recorded a 6-2, 6-4 win over Ashley Hershner.

The Bulldogs will square off against Ashland Saturday (Oct. 18) in their final match of league regular-season play starting at 10 a.m. (EDT) at the Racquet and Fitness Center.

Oct. 11: Bulldogs Get Back On Track With League Road Win

The Ferris State University women's tennis team got back on track by posting a 8-1 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) road victory over the Findlay Oilers Saturday (Oct. 11) in Findlay, Ohio.

The Bulldogs stopped a three-match losing streak with the win and improved to 4-3 overall and in GLIAC play with the triumph.

FSU won two of the three doubles flights and then took all six singles spots en route to the victory. Sophomore Amy Ingle, freshman Natalie Diorio along with senior Ann Grant were all double winners on the day.

The Bulldogs return home for their final two league regular-season matches next weekend. FSU hosts Tiffin Friday, Oct. 17, in a 3 p.m. (EDT) GLIAC encounter before squaring off against Ashland Saturday, Oct. 18, with match time set for 10 a.m. (EDT). Both matches will be held at the FSU Racquet and Fitness Center in Big Rapids, Mich.

Oct. 10: Ferris Suffers Tough Road Loss At Wayne State

The Ferris State University women's tennis team dropped a tough 9-0 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) road match at Wayne State Friday (Oct. 10) afternoon in Detroit, Mich.

The Warriors swept the doubles round and then captured all six singles flights, including four of them in straight-sets, en route to the shutout victory.

The loss was the third-straight for the Bulldogs, who fell to 3-3 both overall and in league action with the setback. WSU improved to 4-3 overall with the triumph.

Ferris State will attempt to get back on track as the Bulldogs visit Findlay Saturday (Oct. 11) for a 10 a.m. (EDT) league outing in Findlay, Ohio.

Sept. 30: Ferris Winning Streak Ends As Bulldogs Fall To Rival

The Ferris State University women's tennis team saw its three-match season opening winning streak come to a halt Tuesday (Sept. 30) afternoon as the Bulldogs dropped an 8-1 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) decision to rival Northwood at the FSU Racquet and Fitness Center in Big Rapids, Mich.

The Timberwolves swept the three doubles flights in convincing fashion and then captured five of the six singles spots to notch the victory. NU improved to 6-0 both overall and in league play while Ferris State is now 3-1 overall and in GLIAC action.

The lone victory of the day for the Bulldogs was posted by senior Ann Grant, who registered a 6-2, 0-6, 10-7 triumph at the fifth singles flight over the Timberwolves' Nicole Kromer. NU claimed four of its five singles wins in straight-sets and the closest doubles score was by an 8-5 count at the number one spot.

Ferris State returns to the courts Friday, Oct. 3, when the Bulldogs visit West Michigan counterpart Grand Valley State for a 3 p.m. (EDT) conference match in Allendale, Mich.

Sept. 27: Bulldogs Improve To 3-0 With Triumph At Michigan Tech

The Ferris State University women's tennis team wrapped up its weekend trip to Michigan's Upper Peninsula by posting a 6-3 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) road win over Michigan Tech Saturday (Sept. 27) at the Gates Tennis Center in Houghton, Mich.

FSU improved to 3-0 overall this campaign with its third consecutive conference victory to remain unbeaten on the year. The Huskies fell to 1-2 both overall and in league action with the setback.

Ferris State took a 2-1 lead in the doubles round and sealed the match by winning the bottom four singles positions. Two of the four singles victories for FSU came in the deciding third set.

The Bulldogs return home to host archrival Northwood Tuesday, Sept. 30, for a 3 p.m. (EDT) league match at the FSU Racquet and Fitness Center in Big Rapids, Mich.

Sept. 26: Ferris Posts GLIAC Win At Lake Superior State

The Ferris State University women's tennis team remained unbeaten this campaign following a 6-3 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) triumph on the road over Lake Superior State Friday (Sept. 26) at Sault Ste. Marie, Mich.

The Bulldogs improved to 2-0 both overall and in league action with the victorious decision.

The host Lakers bolted out to a 2-1 lead after the doubles round with wins at the second and third doubles positions. However, the Bulldogs responded and captured five of the six singles flights to notch the victory.

Sophomore Amy Ingle was the lone Bulldog player to take two matches on the day as she topped Ingrid Pflieger 7-5, 6-2 at the number one singles spot and teamed up with fellow sophomore Tiffany Rheynard to post a 8-3 win at the top doubles flight.

The Bulldogs continue their league road trip by visiting Michigan Tech Saturday (Sept. 27) for a 11 a.m. (EDT) league match in Houghton, Mich.

Sept. 20: Women's Tennis Concludes Action At ITA Regional Event

The Ferris State University women’s tennis team took part in the 2008 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Midwest Regional Championships on Friday and Saturday (Sept. 19-20) in Midland, Mich.

The event, which consisted of both singles and doubles competition, was hosted by Northwood University.

FSU sophomore Amy Ingle, who was seeded 11th in the draw, won a pair of singles matches to reach the round of 16 before she was eliminated by sixth-seeded Audrey Koopsen of Grand Valley State by a 6-0, 6-4 count.

FSU sophomore Tiffany Rheynard along with freshmen Natalie Diorio and Melissa Flowers each notched a single win in individual singles action.

In doubles play, Ingle and Rheynard teamed up to win their opening match after a first-round bye, but suffered a 8-0 setback to Northwood’s top-seeded tandem of Roberta Huetter and Ashley Neumann in the quarterfinals. They were the lone Bulldog tandem to win a match in the doubles portion of the event.

The Bulldog women’s tennis squad, which is currently 1-0 both overall and in GLIAC action, next visits Lake Superior State Friday, Sept. 26, for a 1:30 p.m. (EDT) league tilt in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich.

Sept. 6: Ferris Opens Season With League Victory At Home

The Ferris State women's tennis team opened its 2008 fall season on a high note as the Bulldogs registered a 6-3 victory over Saginaw Valley State this Saturday (Sept. 6) afternoon in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) match held at the FSU Racquet and Fitness Center in Big Rapids, Mich.

Ferris State (1-0 overall) started off strong against the Cardinals, winning two of three in doubles and then prevailing in singles two thru four.

Sophomores Amy Ingle and Tiffany Rheynard won 8-6 in the No. 1 doubles spot while seniors Ann Grant and Jennifer Prisner combined for the victory at No. 3 doubles, winning in a tie-breaker 9-8 (5).

In singles play, freshman Melissa Flowers won in straight sets (6-1, 6-3) at No. 2 while Rheynard did likewise at the third flight (6-3, 6-2). Freshman Natalie Diorio claimed victory in straight sets (6-2, 6-4) at the No. 4 slot.

FSU's final point came in number six singles as Jennifer Prisner bested her SVSU opponent in a tie-breaker, 7-5, 1-6 (10-2).

The Bulldogs return to the courts on Sept. 19-21, competing in the ITA Midwest Regional Championships in Midland, Mich.
