Two Bulldogs Receive NCAA Softball All-Great Lakes Recognition

The Ferris State University softball team placed two members on the NCAA Division II All-Great Lakes Region First Team as junior outfielder Emily McLean (Rogers City) and sophomore catcher-designated player Allison McKibbin (Hemlock) both were chosen to the squad as announced by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA).
With their respective selections, each now is eligible for All-America honors which will be announced later this month.
McLean, the 2005 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference's (GLIAC) Player of the Year, and McKibbin were among 14 individuals to attain first-team region accolades. The GLIAC had nine total representatives with three on the first team and six on the second team.
A 2005 All-GLIAC First-Team selection, McLean batted a team and career-best .378 this season with 62 hits in 164 at bats for 51 games. She also recorded nine doubles, two triples, a team-high nine home runs, a squad-best 37 runs batted in (RBI) and scored 38 runs while producing a .622 slugging percentage. Her numbers this spring ranks among Ferris' all-time single-season statistical leaders in several categories -- tied for second in home runs, seventh in batting average, tied for ninth in hits, ninth in RBIs. McLean paced the Bulldogs with a career-high 21 multiple-hit games while tying for the team lead in both multi-RBI outings (nine) and longest hitting streak (eight).
In 109 career contests, McLean is hitting .332 (111-334) while racking up 20 doubles, four triples, 12 home runs, 62 RBIs, 58 runs scored, and a .524 slugging percentage. She's currently third on FSU's all-time leaders list in home runs, fourth in battting average, 15th in RBIs, 16th in doubles, and 22nd in base hits. McLean has totaled 34 multi-hit games and 15 multiple-RBI performances in her career to date.

McKibbin turned in her most productive season ever this campaign with career highs in virtually every statistical category. She registered 53 hits in 152 official plate appearances for a .349 batting average while generating 12 doubles, three homers, 35 RBIs, 15 runs scored, and a .487 slugging percentage. McKibbin, who didn't receive any conference post-season honors this season, tied for top team honors with nine multi-RBI contests and her 12 multiple-hit games tied for third highest on the squad. She placed among the school's all-time season leaders in six statistical areas this spring -- 10th in RBIs, tied for 11th in doubles, tied for 15th in home runs, tied for 16th in batting average, and 18th in base hits.
McKibbin is presently batting .313 (66-211) in 75 career contests while producing 14 career doubles, three home runs, 44 RBIs, 20 runs scored, and a .422 slugging percentage. She ranks ninth on Ferris' career leaders chart in batting average, tied for 19th in home runs and is tied for 20th in doubles. McKibbin has compiled 15 career multiple-hit outings and 11 multi-RBI game efforts.
Ferris State finished the 2005 season at 31-20-0 overall, which represented its best campaign since 2000 (33-18-0) and the sixth 30 or more win season in the program's 33-year history. The Bulldogs won this year's GLIAC Tournament title and in the process gained a share of the conference's overall championship crown. FSU also made its fourth-ever NCAA Division II Regional appearance and its first since 1999.
