Junior outfielder Emily McLean (Rogers City) registered a .714 slugging percentage and posted six hits as the Bulldogs won three of four games last week. The 5-5 McLean notched three hits along with a double and an RBI in a 4-2 non-league victory at Aquinas last Wednesday (April 6).

Senior pitcher Rachel Chartier (Marquette) threw two complete-game performances while posting a 2-1 mark on the mound last week. She gave up only three runs while hurling the entire nine innings in a 6-3 league series-opening win at Grand Valley State on Saturday (April 9). Chartier allowed 11 hits, struck out one batter and walked two while improving to 6-6 overall on the mound this season with the win over the Lakers.

The Bulldogs have won six of their last eight outings this year, including four of their last five contests overall. Ferris has tallied 10 hits or more in three of its last five games.

Junior infielder Lindsay Riskovitch (Reese) has a current five-game hitting streak for the Bulldogs while sophomore infielder Laura Crower (Midland) has recorded at least one hit in three consecutive contests.

Emily McLean and senior catcher Melissa Worsley (Midland) have each scored at least one run in each of their last five outings this season.

Ferris State won the opening game of its non-league doubleheader versus Aquinas last Wednesday (April 6) as the Bulldogs posted a 4-2 triumph over the Saints at Grand Rapids, Mich. The Bulldogs took an early 2-0 advantage with single runs in each of the first two innings. FSU then went up 3-0 in the fifth inning and added a run in the top half of the sixth inning to push the lead to four runs.

The Bulldogs scored three runs in the top half of the ninth inning to defeat Grand Valley State 6-3 in the opening game of its Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) doubleheader Saturday (April 9) at Allendale, Mich. The Bulldogs trailed 3-1 before notching two runs in the top half of the seventh frame to send the contest to extra innings. In the top half of the ninth, the Bulldogs compiled three runs on four hits and took advantage of two Laker errors to clinch the victory.

The Bulldogs claimed the league series' sweep over Grand Valley State with a 6-2 triumph in the final game of the league doubleheader at Allendale. Ferris State fought back from a 2-1 deficit by exploding for four runs in the bottom half of the fourth inning. FSU then added a final run in the bottom half of the sixth inning to ice the victory.

Ferris State returns to action by hosting Wayne State in a non-league doubleheader Tuesday, April 12, at the FSU Varsity Softball Field in Big Rapids, Mich. Opening pitch for the first game is set for 3 p.m. (EDT).
