On Deck With Thiede:
Why I chose Ferris State: Their outstanding criminal justice program and to play softball
When I step on the field I think: win the war with the batter in front of me
My pregame ritual is: super glue, stretch and get warmed up. After that, think "dominate"
The motto I live by: Champions aren't made in the gyms but from something deep inside them. A desire, a dream, a vision and most of all - Heart
My friends always tell me I: always make them laugh and put them in a good mood
I can't live without: my rosin, super glue and girl accessories
The thing I like most about Ferris State Softball: I love playing with such talented athletes and when we play together, we have a strong bond with each other and the coaches
My role model is: United States Olympic pitcher Lisa Fernandez. Most people believe pitchers should be taller and she's only 5'6" (which is my height) and is one of the world's most dominating pitchers
My advice to youngsters is: The Lord gave you a body that can stand most anything . . . it's your mind you have to convince. Always make your weaknesses your strengths and your strengths stronger!
What has been the most thrilling sports moment in your life?: My sophomore year in high school when we defeated our district rivals Trenton High School 2-1 in 13 1/2 innings and also when I was named to the all-state team as a senior
My best non-athletic talent is: acting and writing poems
