GLIAC SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT CANCELLED
Ferris State Concludes 2004 Regular Season
 | The cancellation of this weekend's GLIAC Tournament could signify the closure of the Diamond Dawgs' 2004 season. |
The 2004 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Softball Tournament, scheduled for April 30-May 1, has been cancelled due to inclement weather and poor field conditions in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich.
The tournament, which was to be hosted by Lake Superior State, will not be rescheduled. The decision was made by GLIAC Commissioner Tom Brown in consultation with the conference-member head coaches.
Ferris State concludes its 2004 regular season at 24-21-1 overall while posting a third-place 14-6 GLIAC record. The Diamond Dawgs, under seventh-year head coach Keri Becker, wrapped up the regular campaign by winning 23 of their last 32 contests after going 1-13-1 to start out this spring.
FSU will graduate three seniors -- third baseman Dana Conklin (Wyoming/Rogers), designated player-first baseman Danielle Maxwell (Bay City/Western) and first baseman Nicki Merchant (Wayland) from this season's team.
