With the excitement of spring in the air, the Ferris State Athletics Department hopes to generate increased interest and enthusiasm with the FSU softball team's fans as the first-ever "Brown Bag It" Day will be held this Thursday (April 8) in conjunction with the Diamond Dawgs' non-conference doubleheader against the Lewis Flyers at the FSU Varsity Softball Field in Big Rapids, Mich.

Game one of the twinbill will begin at 12 p.m. (EDT) with the second game to follow about 20 minutes after the opener's conclusion.

"We're hoping the Big Rapids Community and softball fans around the area will come out to watch some exciting collegiate softball," said FSU Assistant Athletics Director Brian Kegler. "The timing of these games will allow fans to bring their lunch out to the ballpark and catch the Diamond Dawgs in action. It's our intention to make this an annual event for Ferris State softball fans and expand on it in future seasons."

The two-game series has the makings to be an exciting one as Ferris State has presently won eight of its last nine contests while Lewis will bring a 10-game winning streak into Thursday's opener. The Diamond Dawgs, who are midst a five-game winning string, sport a 9-14-1 overall record to date this spring while Lewis has a current 25-9 overall mark.
