Ferris State softball receives votes in latest (April 23) National Fastpitch Coaches Association poll.

The 2008 Ferris State University softball team's recent success on the diamond hasn't went unnoticed as the Bulldogs are listed among other teams receiving votes in the latest (April 23) National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Division II Top 25 Poll.

Ferris State, which has won seven of its last nine contests to date, was among 10 teams listed as others who received votes as the Bulldogs totaled five points to tie Central Missouri. Barry (Fla.) remained the nation's top ranked team with 198 points and six first-place votes.

The NFCA Division II Top 25 Poll is voted on by NCAA-II head coach representing each of the eight regions.

FSU, under 11th-year head coach Keri Becker, entered the 2008 campaign ranked 25th nationally in the NFCA's Division II Preseason Top 25 poll.

Ferris State moved up three places into sixth in the most recent NCAA-II Great Lakes Regional Rankings and are one place behind 19th-ranked Wayne State, which the Bulldogs will host this Friday (April 25) at the FSU Softball Field in Big Rapids, Mich. The two teams will square off in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) doubleheader with game one starting at 3:30 p.m. (EDT) to be followed by game two about 20 minutes after the opener's conclusion.

The Bulldogs will bring a 24-13 overall record and a 13-3 GLIAC mark into Friday's (April 25) league twinbill. Ferris has compiled an 11-4 ledger in its last 15 outings to date.
