Along with the teams, the NFCA recognized over 2,500 scholar-athletes who registered better than 3.5 GPAs last year. The NFCA is the professional growth organization for fastpitch softball coaches from all competitive levels of play.

Seven student-athletes on the 2007 FSU Softball Team were selected as NFCA Scholar-Athletes. Amber Bergman (Howard City/Tri-County), Holly Bruntjens (Gladstone), Danicia Braun (Bark River/Escanaba), Laura Crower (Midland), Megan Brink (Vicksburg), Katie Kraai (Zeeland), and McKenzie West (Jenison) were Ferris State's representatives.

Ferris State, which posted a 31-17 overall record for the 2007 season and qualified for the NCAA-II Great Lakes Region Tournament for the second time in the last three seasons, will open its 2008 schedule March 8-15 at the annual Florida Rebel Spring Tournament in Kissimmee, Fla.
