LIVE GAME STATS FOR 2007 GLIAC SOFTBALL TOURNEY TO BE PROVIDED
Softball Fans Can Follow The Action Of Each Tournament Contest On The Internet
Live statistical scoring for all of the 2007 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Softball Tournament games will be available for fans to view this weekend (May 4-6) for the first-time ever in the conference softball tourney's history.
GameTracker is a service provided by College Sports Television (CSTV), which provides live game scoring and statistics to fans via the internet.
The live in-game statistics can be accessed at this link: http://gvsulakers.cstv.com/sports/w-softbl/spec-rel/07-gliac-tourney.html.
"We are excited to be able to provide Gametracker live stats for all games of the 2007 GLIAC Softball Tournament," said GLIAC Director of Media Relations Jeff Ligney. "This gives our parents and fans who are unable to come to Midland for the tournament the ability to follow all the action as it is happening. We are hopeful that we can continue to provide live stats for many of the GLIAC regular season and championship events next year."
Ferris State, the number two seed, will open 2007 conference tournament play this Friday (May 4) against the seventh-seed Mercyhurst Lakers in Midland, Mich. A 10 a.m. (EDT) start time is scheduled for the contest.
The double-elimination GLIAC Softball Tournament will be held at Currie Stadium and an adjacent field in the Emerson Park Complex.
The Bulldogs are currently 28-13 overall this season and finished with a second-place 14-6 mark in the GLIAC regular-season standings.
Ferris State will attempt to win its third GLIAC Tournament Championship title. The Bulldogs won the conference tourney in 2000 and again in 2005 with four straight tournament victories.
The 2007 season represents the third consecutive year in which only the top eight of the GLIAC's 11 teams will qualify for the GLIAC Softball Tournament. The criteria is based upon each team's regular-season conference record. The 1985 season marked the conference's first-ever post-season softball tournament.
