FERRIS' CARISSA QUIDER NAMED GLIAC PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Senior Pitcher Claims League Nod After Throwing 10 Scoreless Innings

Senior pitcher Carissa Quider (Gladwin/Pinconning) of the 2006 Ferris State University softball team has been chosen this week's (March 28) Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Softball Pitcher of the Week.

Carissa Quider Quider helped lead the Bulldogs to a third-place finish in the Wayne State Invitational held last Saturday and Sunday (March 25-26) in Detroit, Mich. She earned all-tournament team accolades in the event as she allowed only four hits, gave up no runs and struck out five batters in 10 innings of action.

The two-time (2004-05) GLIAC All-Academic Team honoree hurled five scoreless innings while giving up only two hits as the Bulldogs opened the invitational with an 8-0 non-league triumph over Findlay in five innings Saturday (March 25) morning. She then threw five more shutout innings and surrendered only a pair of hits to improve to 4-1 overall this campaign with Sunday's (March 26) 8-0 win over the Oilers in the third-place contest.

Quider moved into 18th place on FSU's all-time pitching victories leaders list with her two victories on the mound last weekend. She has registered a current career 15-11 mark in 58 appearances, including a squad-best mark to date this campaign. In addition, she has presently won her last four decisions this year.

FSU, which has won seven of its last 10 games to date this campaign, will play its next four outings on the road starting with Wednesday's (March 29) non-league doubleheader at Cornerstone in Grand Rapids, Mich. The opening game of the twinbill is slated for a 3 p.m. (EST) start.

The Bulldogs' first home outing of the season will be Saturday, April 8, versus West Michigan rival Grand Valley State in a 1 p.m. (EST) league doubleheader at the FSU Varsity Softball Field in Big Rapids, Mich.
