Ferris State captured third-place in last weekend's (March 25-26) Wayne State Invitational in Detroit, Mich. The Bulldogs twice defeated Findlay by identical 8-0 five-inning scores while posting a 2-2 mark in the event.
Senior pitcher Carissa Quider (Gladwin/Pinconning) and senior second baseman Lindsay Riskovitch (Reese) both were named to the all-tournament team at the Wayne State Invitational.
FSU has presently won seven of its last 10 outings to date this campaign. The Bulldogs have netted eight runs or more in five outings this season.
Senior outfielder Emily McLean (Rogers City) has totaled a team-leading seven multi-hit games this season, which includes three four-hit single-game performances. McLean was the 2005 GLIAC Player of the Year.
Emily McLean's 140 career base hits presently ranks 12th on Ferris State's all-time hitting leaders list. She also is tied for 11th among the program's all-time RBI leaders with former players Patti Silye (1979-82) and Jennifer Colvin (1999-02) as all three have 70 career RBI's.
Ferris State's top two hits leaders to date - Emily McLean (29) and Lindsay Riskovitch (23) have combined for 33.8% (52-154) of the squad's hitting production this campaign.
Carissa Quider has moved into 18th place on FSU's all-time pitching victories leaders list. Quider has registered a career 15-11 mark in 58 appearances, including a squad-best 4-1 mark to date this campaign. She has presently won her last four decisions this year.
FSU will play its next four outings on the road starting with Wednesday's (March 29) non-league doubleheader at Cornerstone in Grand Rapids, Mich. The Bulldogs' first home outing will be Saturday, April 8, versus West Michigan rival Grand Valley State in a 1 p.m. (EST) league doubleheader at the FSU Varsity Softball Field in Big Rapids, Mich.
Six home dates are included on FSU's 2006 schedule, including five conference matchups.
