SOFTBALL PREPARING FOR FALL SEASON CONTESTS
Three Tournaments Highlight Fall Campaign Schedule

The Ferris State University softball team will be taking to the diamond this fall as the Bulldogs start preparations for the 2007 regular season in the spring.
The Bulldogs will be competing in three exhibition tournaments this fall all on the road -- Central Michigan (Sept. 16), Aquinas (Sept. 23), and Northwood (Sept. 30).
Ferris will also play two exhibition games on Oct. 1 at Rockford (Mich.) High School. The FSU softball team will be conducting a skills clinic on that day from 12-2 p.m. at Rockford High School and for more information about the clinic, contact CMunger@rockford.k12.mi.us.
"We are excited about the team we have been watching practice and I can't wait to see them compete," said FSU head coach Keri Becker, who will begin her 10th year at Ferris in the 2006-07 season. "Each year brings a new set of faces, and with those faces comes a different team chemistry, higher expectations and goals. We use the fall to gauge where we're at as a team and also to identify each individual's skills we need to fine tune during the offseason.
"Our priority during the fall is to put different lineups on the field, as well as give the student-athletes a chance to begin bonding as a team. It's also a great time for the freshmen to get rid of those first-game jitters," added Becker, who's the program's all-time winningest coach with a 282-192-1 career record (.595 winning pct.).
The Bulldogs will officially begin their 2007 season and their 35th year of varsity competition at the Florida Rebel Spring Tournament (March 3-10) in Kissimmee, Fla.
