On Deck With Buchan:
Why I chose Ferris State: Location of the school, good education program and I have always been a fan of the softball team
My role model is: Sandy Lewis. I have looked up to her most of my life, watching her play softball when I was younger. She has always taken time to work with me. She's very determined and smart
Favorite Music Group: Clay Aiken and Fernando Alarcon
Something unusual about me is: I taught myself sign language
The thing I like most about Ferris State Softball: Are my teammates and what I know of the coaches on the team
The motto I live by: Failure isn't falling down, it's staying down
My pregame ritual is: focus and chew gum
What has been the most thrilling sports moment of your life?: In districts my sophomore year when we came from behind in the seventh inning to beat our big rivals that were expected to play in the state championship game
My best non-athletic talent is: my ability to work with impaired children
My advice to youngsters is: nothing comes easy. Work through your low points and thrive on your high points
When I step on the field I think: every ball that is hit to me I will get and will know the situation where the ball goes after I get it
If I could meet anyone in history, it would be: Oprah Winfrey and Clay Aiken If I could change one thing about softball: the socks
