Ferris State Women's Soccer Notes

Ferris State has presently won six of its last seven outings this campaign, including three-straight to date. FSU improved to 7-4 overall with a 2-0 win at Olivet Nazarene (Ill.) last Saturday (Sept. 24) in the squad's final non-conference tilt of the season. Ferris also posted a 2-1 overtime win at Northwood in its league opener last Wednesday (Sept. 21).

The Bulldogs have presently won five of their last six overtime contests dating back to last campaign. FSU was 3-0-1 in extra period action during the 2004 season and is 2-1 to date in overtime contests this year.

Freshman goalkeeper Sarah Crumback (Battle Creek/Lakeview) played the entire 90 minutes in net to pick up her first collegiate victory at Olivet Nazarene.

Senior midfielder Jen Gaylor (Roscommon) scored 5:06 into overtime to lift Ferris State past Northwood in its 2005 GLIAC opener. Gaylor's six goals to date this year ranks as the Bulldogs' most this season and already ranks tied for ninth place on the program's single-season goal scoring chart.

Freshman forward Tammy Unsworth (White Lake/Walled Lake Northern) notched a goal apiece in both of Ferris' two outings last week. Each of her markers represented FSU's first goal of each contest.

The Bulldogs played 18 different players in the contest at Olivet Nazarene.

Senior midfielder Andrea Moma (Middleville/Wayland Union) and senior midfielder Kristin Aukeman (Hudsonville/Unity Christian) both have played in 67 career contests, which represents the sixth-highest figure in school history. The most games played in school history was 71 by Kristin Bator from 2000-03. Moma's 64 career starts is two away from tying Emily Rogers' (2000-03) school-record total of 66 starting appearances.

Junior goalkeeper Carla Gilbertson (Waunakee, Wis.) presently has 234 career saves and needs 78 more to match Alana Dombrowski's (2000-03) school-record total of 312 career saves. Her 22 victories (22-16-1) to date in net represent the most wins for a goalkeeper in FSU history.

Sophomore midfielder Kristie Smilanich's (Kalamazoo/Christian) seven assists to date this year currently ranks tied for the program's third-highest single season assists figure.

Ferris State improved to 4-0 all-time versus Olivet Nazarene with Saturday's victory. FSU is 2-0 both at home and on the road to date against the Tigers.

Senior forward Lisa O'Brian (Kalamazoo/Loy Norrix) presently has the program's second-highest all-time points figure with 59 (24-11--59) career points while senior forward Lindsey Pawloski (Royal Oak/Kimball) presently ranks third on the chart with 46 (19-11--49) career points.

Ferris State has totaled 22 goals and only given up 13 goals in 11 outings to date this year. The Bulldogs have also currently outshot their opponents 198-128 this season. Ferris has allowed only one goal or less in six of its last seven contests this season.

Third-year Ferris head coach Melissa Lalonde became the program's all-time winningest coach with FSU's 3-1 non-league win at Charleston (W.Va.) on Sept. 11. She has a current 27-17-2 (.609) mark at the Bulldog helm.

Lindsey Pawloski has tallied at least one point in four of her last five appearances this season.

FSU's 2005 squad features four of the program's top five career scoring leaders in Lisa O'Brian (2nd-59 points), Lindsey Pawloski (3rd-49), Jen Gaylor (4th-39) and Andrea Moma (5th-37).

The Bulldogs will resume Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) action Saturday, Oct. 1, with a 12 p.m. (EDT) road encounter at Northern Michigan in Marquette, Mich.

The Bulldogs defeated NMU 2-1 in overtime last season (Oct. 10). Ferris presently holds a 3-3 all-time mark against NMU and has posted three consecutive series' victories to date over the Wildcats.
