Ferris State Women's Soccer Notes

Senior forward Lindsey Pawloski (Royal Oak/Kimball) notched her second career hat trick to spark the Ferris State women's soccer team past Findlay 4-0 Sunday (Oct. 16) in league action at Findlay, Ohio. Her goals included the first goal, game-winning goal, an unassisted goal and a penalty kick goal in the hat trick performance. Pawloski's performance was one shy of matching former teammate Emily Rogers' school-record total of four goals in a match.
Ferris State has presently won nine of its last 12 outings this campaign. FSU is currently 10-6 overall and 4-2 in conference play this campaign. The 10 victories currently is the second-most in school history and one shy of tying the program's top mark of 11 wins (11-5-1) in 2003.
FSU is currently ranked 10th in the latest (Oct. 18) National Soccer Coaches Association of America/adidas Great Lakes Regional Rankings. FSU, which was ranked eighth last week, is one of four Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) schools among the top 10. Grand Valley State is second, Ashland fifth and Mercyhurst ninth in the current poll.
Ferris State is now idle until Sunday, Oct. 30, when the Bulldogs host Saginaw Valley State in their regular-season home finale beginning at 12 p.m. (ET). The contest will also represent FSU's annual Senior Day outing as the six-member senior class will be introduced prior to the match.
Nine of FSU's last 11 outings have been decided by two goals or less. Seven of Ferris' 16 matches this year have resulted in a 2-1 final score with Ferris claiming three of those victories.
Senior midfielder Andrea Moma (Middleville/Wayland Union) and senior midfielder Kristin Aukeman (Hudsonville/Unity Christian) have both played in 72 career contests, which represents the highest figure in school history and surpasses Kristin Bator's (2000-03) previous school-best total of 71 career appearances. Moma has started a school career-high 69 contests.
The Bulldogs have presently won five of their last six overtime contests dating back to last campaign. FSU was 3-0-1 in extra period action during the 2004 season and is 2-1 to date in overtime contests this year.
Senior midfielder Jen Gaylor (Roscommon) also notched her second career hat trick earlier this season versus Gannon (10/7).
Sophomore midfielder Kristie Smilanich's (Kalamazoo/Christian) eight assists to date this year currently ranks tied for the program's second-highest single season assists figure and is four shy of matching Emily Rogers' school-best 12 assists set in 2003.
Junior goalkeeper Carla Gilbertson (Waunakee, Wis.) presently has 250 career saves and needs 62 more to match Alana Dombrowski's (2000-03) school-record total of 312 career saves. Her 24 victories (24-18-1) to date in net represent the most wins for a goalkeeper in FSU history.
Jen Gaylor and Lindsey Pawloski both have a team-leading nine goals to date this year, which currently ranks seventh on the program's single-season goal scoring chart.
Ferris State has totaled 34 goals and only given up 19 goals in 16 outings to date this year. The Bulldogs have also currently outshot their opponents 295-188 this season. Ferris has allowed only one goal or less in nine of its last 12 contests this season.
Lindsey Pawloski has tallied at least one point in seven of her last 10 appearances this season. Pawloski's 21 total points this year (9-3--21) ranks as the squad's seventh-best single-season points production to date.
Senior forward Lisa O'Brian (Kalamazoo/Loy Norrix) and Lindsey Pawloski both presently are tied for the program's second-highest all-time points figure with 59 career points. Both players have registered 24 goals and 11 assists in their careers and trail Emily Rogers' school-record 119 points (45-29--119).
Third-year Ferris head coach Melissa Lalonde became the program's all-time winningest coach with FSU's 3-1 non-league win at Charleston (W.Va.) on Sept. 11. She has a current 30-19-2 (.608) mark at the Bulldog helm.
FSU's 2005 squad features five of the program's top six career scoring leaders in Lisa O'Brian (T2nd-59 points), Lindsey Pawloski (T2nd-59), Jen Gaylor (4th-45), Andrea Moma (5th-37) and Kristie Smilanich (6th-26).
Carla Gilbertson presently needs one more victory in net to match her school single-season mark of nine victories (9-8-1) set in 2004. Gilbertson is currently 8-6 overall to date this season. She also holds the school's third-best seasonal effort with a 7-4 mark in 2003.
Ferris' 95 total points this season on 34 goals and 27 assists is the program' second-best single-season total in history to date. FSU tallied a program-best 116 total points on 40 goals and 36 assists in 2003. The 27 assists is presently tied for the second-most in a season while the 34 goals ranks third to date.
