2005 FERRIS WOMEN’S SOCCER AWARD WINNERS ANNOUNCED

Senior Forward Lindsey Pawloski Nets Team MVP Award Honors

Third-year Ferris State University women's soccer head coach Melissa Lalonde recently announced the Bulldogs' 2005 postseason award winners.

Sophomore Ashley Lukes earned team Defensive Most Valuable Player Award kudos this campaign
Ferris, which won 10 of its final 14 outings this campaign, wrapped up its 2005 slate with an 11-7 overall record and a fourth place 5-3 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) mark. FSU's 11 victories this season under Lalonde tied for the program's most wins in school history.

Senior forward Lindsey Pawloski (Royal Oak/Kimball) received the squad’s Offensive Most Valuable Player Award. The 5-9 Pawloski, who earned second-team All-GLIAC recognition for the second consecutive season this year, tallied a team-high 21 points on nine goals and three assists in 18 outings this campaign. Pawloski's 21 points in 2005 ranked seventh on the school's single-season leaders list. The 2003 & 2004 GLIAC All-Academic Team honoree finished her career ranked tied for second place on the school's all-time points leaders list with 59 (24-11--59) career points.

Pawloski's 24 career markers is also listed tied for second to date on the school's all-time goal scoring chart while her 11 assists is presently tied for third place in school history. Her nine goals this year represented the eighth-best single season figure at FSU. She also had three game-winning goals this campaign and tallied a hat trick with three goals in FSU's 4-0 GLIAC road shutout at Findlay (Oct. 16).

The Defensive Most Valuable Player Award was presented to sophomore defender Ashley Lukes (Kokomo, Ind./Western) for the second-straight season. Lukes, who started all 18 contests this season, currently has started all 37 of her career outings. Lukes, whose older sister Gayle received the same award following her senior season in 2003, compiled a personal career-high four shots this campaign. She was the only Bulldog freshman and among five FSU players to crack the starting lineup in all 19 outings during her initial season in 2004. This year, the 5-2 Lukes was one of eight players to start all 18 contests.

Sophomore defender/midfielder Ashley Brewer (Dowagiac/Union) garnered team Most Improved Player Award recognition. The 5-2 Brewer, who appeared in only six outings as a freshman in 2004, played in all 18 matches this campaign. She tallied two shots, including one on goal against Quincy (Ill.) in the Grand Valley State Tournament (Aug. 28) at Allendale, Mich. Brewer started the final 12 contests of the season.

Ferris' 104 total points this campaign represented the school's second-best single season total behind its school record 116 points from the 2003 season. FSU's 37 goals and 30 assists this campaign are also both listed second on the all-time seasonal list. Fourteen of this season's 20 squad members are eligible to return for the 2006 season.
