Ferris State Women's Soccer Notes

Second-year FSU head coach Melissa Lalonde needs three victories to tie Pete Watkins (1999-02) for the most wins in school history. Watkins, who served as Ferris' first-ever head coach, compiled a 23-36-7 mark in four seasons at the helm. The Bulldogs are 20-13-2 in two seasons under Lalonde to date.

The Bulldogs have won two consecutive series' meetings to date versus Findlay following Sunday's (Oct. 24) 3-2 overtime home triumph. The Bulldogs also won last season's (10/26) meeting 3-1 at Findlay, Ohio.

FSU improved to 5-5-8 overall in all-time overtime contests with Sunday's win over Findlay. The extra period triumph was Ferris' third consecutive overtime victory to date this campaign. The Bulldogs are 3-0-1 in OT play this season.

Ferris, which is presently 9-8-1 overall this campaign, has won six of its last 10 outings to date this year.

The Bulldogs will conclude their regular-season campaign by hosting Grand Valley State Saturday, Nov. 6, at the FSU Varsity Soccer Field in Big Rapids, Mich. The contest is set for a 12 p.m. (EST) start.

Ferris, which is 3-2 all-time versus GVSU, had won three consecutive series' meetings by identical 1-0 scores prior to last season's (11/8/03) 4-0 setback in Allendale, Mich. FSU is 2-3 all-time in its final regular-season outing.

FSU has won six of its last eight home contests to date this campaign. The Bulldogs have emerged victorious in 10 of their last 14 home outings dating back to last season.

Junior forward Lindsey Pawloski (Royal Oak/Kimball) presently has registered a team-high 23 points (10-3--23) to date this season. She currently ranks third on the school's all-time points leaders list with 38 (15-8--38) career points.

Ferris has currently recorded more shots than its opponent in eight of its last 10 outings this campaign.

Freshman forward Kristie Smilanich (Kalamazoo/Christian) tallied three goals in Ferris State's outings this past weekend (Oct. 23-24). She tallied the Bulldogs' lone marker in Saturday's (Oct. 23) 4-1 loss to nationally-ranked Ashland under rain-soaked conditions. She then added her sixth and seventh goals of the year as Ferris defeated Findlay. Smilanich, who registered a team-leading six points for the weekend, currently has 14 points on seven goals this campaign. Her seven goals represents the school's sixth-highest career goal scoring figure and is eighth on FSU's single-season leaders list.

Lindsey Pawloski's 23 points to date this season in 18 games presently ranks sixth on the school's single-season leaders list and is three away from matching Emily Rogers' fifth-place total of 26 points (11-4-26) compiled during the 2000 campaign.

Junior forward Lisa O'Brian (Kalamazoo, Mich./Loy Norrix) presently ranks as FSU's second all-time leading scorer and goal producer with 56 points and 23 markers. O'Brian's 10 career assists currently ranks third on the school's all-time list.

Sophomore goalkeeper Carla Gilbertson's (Waunakee, Wis.) six shutouts to date this campaign presently ranks first on the school's single-season leaders chart. She needs three more shutouts to match Connie Bigott's (2000-01) school-record career total of nine shutouts.

Carla Gilberton presently has nine victories in net this season, which ranks as the school's top single-season victory performance surpassing her seven wins of a season ago.
