FSU Women's Soccer
The Ferris State women's soccer team suffered its first setback of the 2008 season as the Bulldogs dropped a 3-0 non-conference decision to the nation's top-ranked team in the Tampa (Fla.) Spartans this Sunday (Aug. 31) afternoon in a Grand Valley State Tournament match played at Allendale, Mich.

The Bulldogs, who were outshot by a 20-4 margin, are now 1-1 overall on the season as is Tampa.

The Spartans registered 12 shots in the first 45 minutes of the contest to Ferris' three total.

Tampa connected seven minutes into the first half on Courtney Evans' goal to claim a 1-0 lead at intermission. The Spartans wasted little time in the second half as Jasimin Perry tallied just inside the 49th minute to give UT a 2-0 advantage. The contest's final goal would come at 62:37 when Brittan Spence scored past Ferris State junior goalkeeper Stevie Salow (Saginaw/Heritage) on a breakaway to seal the win.

Salow would finish the match with five saves while UT goalkeeper Kendall Bourdon made three saves in 76:47 of action. Caitlin Fox came in relief of Bourdon and played the final 13:13 forthe Spartans.
