The Bulldogs' six victories (6-7-1 overall record) this season to date is equals the 2007 team's six-wins total (6-12-1 overall).
Freshman forward Bri Borgman (Holland/West Ottawa), who scored the game-winnining goal in overtime against Findlay last Sunday (10/19) on a penalty kick, has registered all of her four points this season on goals. Two of Borgman's four markers this fall have occurred in conference matches versus Findlay (9/28-10/19).
Both of Ferris State's 2008 regular-season matches versus Findlay this season were overtime contests. The Bulldogs played to a 2-2 double-overtime tie at Findlay (9/28) and then went into the extra session with the Oilers Sunday (10/19) before claiming a 2-1 overtime decision.
Senior defender Jackie Back (Ortonville/Ortonville-Brandon) is presently the program's all-time leader in minutes played with a 4,957 total while senior forward Tammy Unsworth's (White Lake/Walled Lake Northern) 4,109 career minutes ranks second highest on the charts. Back has played in a team fourth-highest 1,011 minutes in 12 matches this season while Unsworth has received action in 799 minutes over an 11-match period. Back and Unsworth both received 2007 All-GLIAC Second-Team recognition.
Prior to this last weekend's (10/17 & 19) matches, Ferris State was listed ninth in the Midwest Region rankings in the latest (10/15) NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Poll which was released by the NCAA-II Women's Soccer Committee. The final regular-season poll will be published Oct. 28 and championship selections will take place Nov. 10.
Ferris State improved to 4-6-0 overall (.400 winning pct.) in regular-season home finales with its 2-1 overtime victory over Findlay Sunday (10/19). The win snapped a two-game losing streak in regular-season finale outings for the Bulldogs, who claimed a 2-0 decision over Saginaw Valley State in 2005 (10/30) for their most recent regular-season home finale triumph.
