MOUNT PLEASANT PRODUCT JOINS FERRIS WOMEN'S SOCCER PROGRAM
Owie Lanctot Added To Bulldogs' Current Recruiting Class
The Ferris State University Women's Soccer program has announced the addition of prep midfielder Olivia "Owie" Lanctot (Mount Pleasant), who plans to attend and compete in women's soccer at FSU beginning with the 2006-07 academic year.
The 5-5 Lanctot totaled 14 goals and seven assists as a senior during the 2006 spring campaign for Mount Pleasant High School, which tallied a 13-9-1 overall record under coach Mark Daisy.
A four-year letterwinner, Lanctot earned All-Saginaw Valley League (SVL) accolades this season. MPHS advanced to the district final for the first time in school history this season. A three-time all-conference and two-time all-district honoree, Lanctot served as team captain in her final prep campaign.
As a junior (2005), Lanctot compiled 13 goals and five assists. She recorded both four goals and four assists as a sophomore (2004) after notching a single goal along with four assists as a freshman (2003). The four-year varsity starter claimed the SVL's Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award this year.
In addition to soccer, Lanctot also competed in cross country for four years where she attained all-conference laurels four-straight seasons and qualified for the state meet three times.
Lanctot joins prep teammate Kari Alsager (Mount Pleasant) as a member of FSU's 2006 recruiting class. The class also includes twin sisters Kirstin and Kacie Lumley (Traverse City/Central), Stephanie Salow (Saginaw/Heritage), Kristin March (Canton/Salem) along with Allyson Smilanich (Kalamazoo/Christian).
The daughter of Jay and Carol Lanctot, Owie plans to major in business at Ferris State. Her older sister, Ali, is a member of the women's swimming team at Hillsdale College.
The Bulldogs wrapped up the 2005 campaign with an 11-7 overall record and a fourth place 5-3 mark in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC). FSU's 11 victories during the 2005 season tied for the program's most wins in school history. Ferris won 10 of its final 14 outings in 2005.
