Bulldogs Defend Badger Hockey Showdown Title; Seek To Continue Winning Ways
The Ferris State University men's ice hockey team will be showcased this Friday (Jan. 7) as part of College Sports Television's (CSTV) Friday Night Game of the Week when the Bulldogs skate against the nationally ninth-ranked Ohio State University Buckeyes in a Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) contest at OSU's Value City Arena in Columbus, Ohio.
An 8:05 p.m. (EST) starting time is slated for the weekend league series opener on CSTV which can be viewed on DirectTV channel 610. Steve Schlanger will call the play-by-play while Billy Jaffe providing color analysis.
Ferris State is currently 8-10-2 overall and 3-7-2 in the CCHA. The Bulldogs are unbeaten in their last five outings (4-0-1) and are midst a three-game winning streak. FSU, under 13th-year head coach Bob Daniels, is coming off a 5-3 victory over nationally-ranked Wisconsin last Saturday (Jan. 1) in the championship game of the 16th annual Badger Hockey Showdown. Ferris, which also captured last year's Badger Hockey Showdown Championship title as well, became the first visiting team to win the tournament title in back-to-back years as the Bulldogs bested Wisconsin 3-1 in the 2003 championship contest. | Senior forward Derek Nesbitt, who has compiled multiple points in four of his last five outings, will be one of the Bulldogs to keep an eye on this Friday night. Nesbitt was one of four Ferris State skaters named to the 2004 Badger Hockey Showdown's All-Tournament Team. |
The two teams will meet again for the final time in the 2004-05 regular season this Saturday (Jan. 8) at 7:35 p.m. (EST). Fans will be able to watch the game by webcast online at ohiostatebuckeyes.com. The webcast is available within the College Sports Pass subscription service which features exclusive live and on-demand audio and video contest.
