THREE FERRIS STATE SKATERS EARN LEAGUE WEEKLY RECOGNITION
Rallo, O'Keefe and Riedel Named CCHA Players of the Week
Three student-athletes on the 2005-06 Ferris State University men's ice hockey team in senior center Greg Rallo (Gurnee, Ill.), freshman goaltender Mitch O'Keefe (Almont, Ontario), and freshman center Dan Riedel (Rochester Hills) have all earned Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) weekly honors (Nov. 14) for their performances on the ice this past week as announced by the league office. | Greg Rallo |
Rallo garnered Offensive Player of the Week recognition while O'Keefe picked up league Goaltender of the Week accolades. Riedel was tabbed the Rookie of the Week by the CCHA.
Ferris State, which went 2-0-1 in last week's action, is presently 4-2-4 overall and tied for second place in the CCHA with a 3-1-4 league mark.
Rallo registered a combined seven points on two goals and five assists with a plus three efficiency rating in the Bulldogs' three league outings last week. He turned in a three-point (1-2--3) night in last Friday's (Nov. 11) 6-0 series-opening win over Western Michigan and then recorded a career-high four points (1-3--4) in Saturday's 5-3 come-from-behind victory at WMU. The assistant captain was plus two in both games versus Western Michigan.
Rallo is currently the Bulldogs' leading scorer this season with 12 points on three goals and nine assists in 10 contests to go with a plus four efficiency rating.  | Mitch O'Keefe |
O'Keefe compiled a 2-0-1 record in net with a 1.62 goals against average and a .943 saves percentage in 185 minutes of action. He stopped 83-of-88 shots on goal and was a Perani Cup Star of the Game twice, including the first star versus Michigan State. He had 32 saves apiece in last Tuesday's (Nov. 8) 2-2 overtime tie against nationally-ranked Michigan State and in the series-opening shutout over Western Michigan. O'Keefe, who was recognized as the CCHA's Rookie of the Week earlier this season (Oct. 24), totaled 19 saves at Western Michigan.
In nine contests this season, O'Keefe sports a 4-1-4 record with a 2.25 goals against average (21 goals allowed) and a .916 saves percentage (230 saves) in 560 minutes of action.  | Dan Riedel |
Riedel tallied seven points with a goal and six assists in last week's play. He collected three assists in last Friday's (Nov. 11) contest against Western Michigan before adding a goal and three more helpers in Saturday's (Nov. 12) encounter at WMU. Riedel, who was attained a plus four efficiency ranking for the week, presently ranks second in team scoring with 11 points on two goals and nine assists in 10 outings this campaign.
The Bulldogs return to the ice this weekend (Nov. 18-19) versus the Bemidji (Minn.) State Beavers in a two-game non-league series at the Ewigleben Ice Arena in Big Rapids, Mich. Opening faceoff for this Friday's (Nov. 18) contest is set for 7:05 p.m. (EST) while the puck will drop on Saturday (Nov. 19) at 5:05 p.m. (EST).
