FERRIS TO BE ON FSN DETROIT FOR THE THIRD CONSECUTIVE WEEK
Bulldogs' CCHA Playoff Quarterfinal Round Opener This Friday At Michigan To Be Aired
The success of the nationally-ranked Ferris State University men's ice hockey team this season continues to generate enthusiasm and interest as the Bulldogs will appear on FSN Detroit for an unprecedented third straight time this Friday (March 10) against the nationally-ranked University of Michigan Wolverines in game one of a best-of-three Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) Playoff Quarterfinal-Round series at UM's Yost Ice Arena in Ann Arbor, Mich.
A 7:35 p.m. (EST) start time is slated for all playoff contests this weekend (March 10-12) and the winner of the playoff series will advance along with three other teams to the CCHA Championship semifinals, which are slated for Friday, March 17, at Joe Louis Arena in Detroit, Mich.
Calling the play-by-play in this Friday's contest will be FSN's Ken Daniels with analysis from Fred Pletsch. Shireen Saski will serve as the rinkside reporter.
"We certainly appreciate the exposure which the folks at FSN Detroit have given to Ferris State University and in particular, the hockey program, over the last three weeks," said Ferris State Athletics Director Tom Kirinovic. "The only way we could've made this possible was through the efforts and teamwork shown by a number of people across campus. This truly shows what good things can happen when people strive for the same goal."
The Bulldogs were originally featured on CCHA's Game of the Week at Michigan three weeks ago (Feb. 25) in the 2005-06 regular season finale and then were televised again this past Friday (March 3) in the opening game of a CCHA Playoff First-Round series versus Ohio State at Big Rapids, Mich.
This past Friday's (March 3) home playoff game was a significant one to Ferris State as the regionally televised contest represented the first live telecast from FSU's Ewigleben Ice Arena in 20 years. The last Ferris home game to be televised live dated back to Oct. 17, 1986, when the Bulldogs suffered a 3-2 league loss to Michigan State. The game was televised by the defunct Pro Am Sports System (PASS) based in Troy, Mich.

FSN Detroit has been televising CCHA hockey for the better part of the past decade. FOX Sports Net, which reaches 3.5 million homes in Michigan, Ohio, and Northwest Indiana, will also be carrying both semifinal round games (March 17) of the 2006 CCHA Playoffs from Joe Louis Arena along with the CCHA Championship game (March 18).
Ferris State, which is presently 17-13-8 overall this season, advanced to this weekend's (March 10-12) league playoff quarterfinals as the seventh-seed Bulldogs won back-to-back games against Ohio State to clinch the first-round CCHA Playoff series. Michigan, which is the playoff's third seed, was idle last weekend as the 18-13-5 Wolverines received a first-round bye as a result of finishing among the top four teams in the final league regular-season standings.
