FERRIS STATE HOCKEY TO APPEAR ON TELEVISION IN 2005-06 SEASON

The Ferris State University men’s ice hockey team will appear on television at least six times during the 2005-06 regular season.

The Bulldogs will appear on FSN Detroit as the Central Collegiate Hockey Association’s “Game of the Week” in the 2005-06 regular-season finale at Michigan. FSN Detroit will also televise a CCHA First-Round Playoff series on Friday, Mar. 3, and then a second-round league playoff contest a week later (Mar. 10) at a campus site. Both CCHA Playoff Semifinal-Round games from Joe Louis Arena in Detroit, Mich., will be broadcast on Friday, Mar. 17, with the Mason Cup championship game to air on Saturday, Mar. 18, at 7:05 p.m. (EST). Matt Shepard and Ken Daniels will share play-by-play duties throughout the season on FSN Detroit. Fred Pletsch returns for his sixth season as analyst while Shireen Saski will serve as rinkside reporter.

In addition to live game coverage, CCHA Weekly, a 30-minute magazine that provides in-depth and behind-the-scene coverage of the league, its teams and its players, returns for a sixth season. CCHA Weekly begins its 10-week run on Jan. 20. The show’s regular time slot is 11:30 a.m. each Saturday, with additional weekly bonus airings including several Fridays at 7 p.m. to precede the CCHA Game of the Week. Telecasts of CCHA games and the presentation of CCHA Weekly are part of the more than 3,000 hours per year that FSN devotes to the region’s sports scene. FSN is delivered to more than 3.6 million cable and satellite households throughout Michigan, as well as portions of Northwest Ohio and Northern Indiana.

Comcast Local will also showcase the Bulldogs in a Jan. 24 road game against Michigan State. Comcast Local is a locally originated 24-hour supplier of local events, entertainment, and sports programming in parts of southeast and western Michigan. The channel is available, at no additional cost, exclusively to Comcast cable customers. Ferris Cable 7, the campus cable information channel at Ferris State University, will broadcast three November home encounters on a tape delay basis, starting with the Friday, Nov. 4, contest versus Alaska Fairbanks. The Nov. 8 encounter against Michigan State along with the Nov. 18 game with Bemidji State are also scheduled to be televised. All the home televised contests are scheduled for a 7:05 p.m. (EST) starting time. FSU Media Production produces the Cable 7 information channel as a service to the Ferris campus and the Big Rapids Community.

FSN Rocky Mountain out of Denver, Colo., will be televising both the third-place and championship games of the Wells Fargo Denver Cup (Dec. 30-31) from the University of Denver’s Magness Arena. Opening faceoff for the third-place game is scheduled for 6:07 p.m. (EST) with the championship contest to air at 9:07 p.m. (EST). The second game of the tourney’s opening round (Dec. 30) between host Denver and Princeton will be shown live. Ferris will go up against Boston College in the tournament’s opening first-round contest. FSN Rocky Mountain, which is in its 17th year, serves more than 2.8 million cable and satellite subscribers in Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, Nebraska, Kansas and Nevada.
