Mangos Named CCHA Defensive Player of the Week

Junior defenseman Simon Mangos (Caledon, Ontario) of the nationally-ranked Ferris State University men's ice hockey team has been named this week's Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in the Bulldogs' non-league series at Niagara this last weekend (Jan. 3-4).

Mangos helped Ferris State to a pair of convincing victories at Niagara as the Bulldogs captured a 7-1 victory in last Friday's series opener before posting an 8-1 triumph in Saturday's rematch with the Purple Eagles. The honor represents Ferris' seventh of this season and first of Mangos' career.

Brown is a league-record five-time defensive player of the week selection while Kunitz has been chosen as the offensive player of the week twice this campaign.

Ferris State resumes CCHA action with a four-game league homestand starting this weekend (Jan. 10-11) as the Bulldogs host the University of Notre Dame Fighting Irish in a two-game series at FSU's Ewigleben Ice Arena in Big Rapids, Mich. Opening faceoff for Friday's game is 7:35 p.m. (EST) while Saturday's outing is set for a 7:05 p.m. (EST) start time.
