BULLDOG HOCKEY FALLS TO ROBERT MORRIS IN ONE-SIDED CONTEST
Four third-period goals by Robert Morris propelled the Colonials to a 6-3 non-league victory over the Ferris State men's ice hockey team Friday (Oct. 17) night before a crowd of 816 fans at Clearview Arena in Pittsburgh, Pa.
The loss drops Ferris State to 1-2-0 overall this season while Robert Morris improved to 1-1-0 overall with the win in what marked the first-ever meeting between the two schools.
Ferris State took a 1-0 lead at 8:52 into the game on senior right wing Justin Lewandowski's (Naperville, Ill.) power-play goal. RMU would tie the contest at 1-1 as Matt Krug, who would post the hat trick with three lamplighters in the game, scored on a Colonials' power play at the 10:38 mark. FSU would regain the lead before the end of the opening period as sophomore defenseman Scott Wietecha posted his first goal of the season with 2:50 remaining in the stanza.
Robert Morris would once again tie the game as Nathan Longpre scored the first of back-to-back goals with the lone second-period tally at 8:24.

In the third period, Longpre would give the hosts a 3-2 lead at 10:05 into the frame with a five-on-three power-play lamplighter. From there it was all Robert Morris as the Colonials reeled off three unanswered goals, including a pair by Matt Krug at 14:35 and 19:20, respectively. The last two RMU goals came at the expense of the Bulldogs having two skaters in the penalty box.
Lewandowski along with freshman defenseman Chad Billins (Marysville) were the lone FSU skaters to notch multiple-point game performances.
Sophomore goaltender Pat Nagle (Bloomfield) made 24 saves for Ferris State while his counterpart, RMU's Wes Russell picked up the victory with a 20-save effort.
