2008 FERRIS STATE HOCKEY SUMMER SKILLS CAMP CANCELLED

Extensive Ice Arena Improvements Forces Summer Camp Cancellation

The 2008 Ferris State University Hockey Summer Skills Camp to be held this summer has been cancelled due to upcoming scheduled renovations within FSU's Ewigleben Ice Arena complex.

A letter has been released which states the following:

To our Loyal and Valued Campers,

For over a quarter century, Ferris State University has developed and operated one of the most highly successful summer hockey camps in the Midwest. In order to operate camps at a continued high level, we are in the process of planning for renovations to our ice arena.

Recently, we were informed that these renovations will take place this summer. Due to the extent of these renovations, and the duration it will take to be completed (April – August), we will need to suspend the operation of our hockey camp for the summer of 2008.

We are excited about the renovations to our facility and the improvements it will bring to the ice surface and locker-rooms. To our loyal camper base, we look forward to running our camp next summer and will be advertising the dates for 2009 in the early fall.

Sincerely,
Ferris State Hockey Program

The Ewigleben Ice Arena renovation project will consist of new slabs for the main and half ice sheets, new dasher boards and glass for both the main and studio rinks, new rubber flooring throughout the ice arena, and locker room renovations. The projected renovations cost is 3.3 million dollars.
