Senior defenseman Adam Welch (Hastings, Minn.) of the Ferris State University men's ice hockey team will wear the captain's 'C' on his jersey for the third consecutive season this upcoming 2007-08 campaign. The announcement was made by head coach Bob Daniels.

Welch becomes only the fourth skater in the program's history to serve as team captain for more than two seasons. Ed Turner (1976-80), Jim Baker (1979-82), and Jim File (1981-84) are also members of the elite group.

He was a co-recipient of the team's Blueline Competitive Award in 2006-07 and was also a 2005-06 co-winner of the award. As a sophomore in 2005-06, Welch recorded a career single-season best 13 points with two goals and 11 assists in 40 contests.

Welch's 2004-05 season points total tied for him for top team honors among the Bulldogs’ defensemen. In 115 career outings to date, Welch has totaled 27 points on five lamplighters and 22 assists.

Frank, who was an assistant captain on the 2006-07 squad, produced one goal and three helpers for four points in 33 games a season ago. The center-right wing was bestowed with the 2005-06 FSU Most Improved Player Award following a career single-season high 12 points on four goals and eight assists to go with a plus nine efficiency rating in 34 appearances.

Spezia equaled his career season high with five points (all assists) in 29 appearances during the 2006-07 campaign. Chupp notched eight goals and had 15 assists to go with a plus five rating in 37 games. The center-right wing's five multi-point games ranked tied for the second most among the 2006-07 team statistical leaders, which included a three-point game effort on a squad-leading three occasions. He shared top team honors in game-winning tallies (two) and netted at least one point in 15 encounters.
