John DePourcq
Hockey, 1987-91
DePourcq, a member of the 20th Anniversary All-Time Bulldog Hockey Team, was the 1987-88 Central Collegiate Hockey Association Rookie of the Year and a 1990-91 All-CCHA honorable mention pick. He currently ranks third in FSU career scoring with 203 points on 73 goals and 130 assists. The 130 assists are a Ferris career record. The Penticton, British Columbia product presently shares a FSU single-season mark for most goals by a freshman with 26 in the 1987-88 season.
DePourcq was a three-time (1987-88, 1989-90, 1990-91) recipient of the Lloyd Earl Award as the Bulldogs' top scorer. A third round draft pick of the Penguins in the 1989 supplemental free agent draft, he was the nation's top scoring freshman with 53 points in 1987-88. He was Player of the Year for Holland's Rotterdam Gunco Pandas in 1991-92, the leading scorer for Aosta, Italy's B Division Champs in 1992-93 and a member of the Wichita Thunder's Central Hockey League Champs in 1994-95. He has since played or worked for the Louisiana Ice Gators of the East Coast Hockey League, directing youth hockey in the off season.
