Patti Silye
Softball, 1979-82
Silye achieved 1982 Converse All-America First-Team and All-Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference honors as a senior and earned AIAW All-State kudos in 1980-81. She currently ranks ninth among Ferris all-time leaders in runs batted in (70), tied for third in triples and third in home runs. The Grosse Ile shortstop compiled three-year totals of 80 hits, eight doubles, 11 triples, six home runs, 54 RBI and a .278 average. During the 1980-82 seasons, FSU registered a 72-35 overall record while qualifying for the AIAW National Tournament twice and placing seventh at the 1982 NCAA Division II Championships. The 1982 Bulldogs captured their first-ever GLIAC title and were 23-11 overall. Silye later played in the Women's Major Metro League where her Class A team won World Championships in 1980 and 1983-84 and she won all-star, MVP and home run awards. A member of the Michigan Hall of Fame, she works as a graphic artist.
