Softball 1979-81

McCumber was an All-GLIAC softball star in 1979 and 1980 and an Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women All-State choice in 1980 and 1981. She holds several school records, including lowest earned run average in a season (0.44 in 1980), season shutouts (11), career earned run average (0.98) and fewest walks per inning in a season (.048 in 1980).

McCumber shares the Bulldog records for consecutive scoreless innings (41) and consecutive wins (eight). A native of Custer, Michigan, she ranks second in career shutouts at Ferris 14. Following her college playing career, she earned Class C All-America honors in 1992 and 1994 after helping her team finish second nationally in the Amateur Softball Association. She also played for teams that finished third and fifth in the ASA nationals and was a member of state championship teams in 1982 and 1992.
